THIS is the WEALTHIEST neighborhood in SOUTH KOREA (Hannam, Seoul)

Welcome to the most expensive neighborhood in South Korea. Home to CEOs, celebrities and some of the wealthiest families here in Korea. Yes, we’re in Seoul. We’re in Hannam-dong neighborhood. Yes. And behind me is the Nine One building. One of the most expensive buildings here in Korea with some places costing over $10 million. So we’re going to check this place. A whole complex of sorts. There’s shops, there’s literally a grocery store. Gourmet 494. It’s a little bit crazy. There’s convenience stores. Yeah, a little bit out of my price range to live here. But I live quite close. I live nearby. But yeah, this is one of the most prestigious places. You know, it’s not just about money. Chrome hearts. You know, luxury brand. It’s not just about money. It’s it’s about power, location, prestige. So yeah, we’re gonna see what this neighborhood is about. We’re gonna explore a little bit. As we see here, there’s just a, a little wine shop. Vino 494 wine sale. So 950,000 won. Not cheap. Not cheap. We have the Leah pop up store here. You know, these shops are always changing. I actually come to this area quite often and I seen like, I don’t know, just in a couple months being here, I’ve seen many shops close and open. So let’s just see this little spot here. Papyrus. So this is like luxury eyewear. And then there’s like art galleries as well, which is just crazy for like an apartment complex. I have like art galleries. I mean you can see everything is very well done. So here. Yeah, art gallery. Interesting. Interesting place. Nice. Okay, I want to check out the. Yeah, there’s a whole food court. There was a huge grocery store as well, which now closed down. You know, I guess maybe it’s just not enough business. Maybe it’s just not enough, you know, to have a full size grocery store. Like a supermarket basically. You know, in an apartment complex. Maybe it’s just not plausible. Maybe it’s not reasonable. And so, yeah, I don’t know. It closed down. Yeah, check this out. I mean look at this. Just the way everything looks, the architecture. I come over here just to chill. You know, I filmed like a little segment in one of my videos sitting down there one time. Yeah, Gourmet 494. That’s what the grocery store was called. That’s what this whole little complex down here is called. 494 Galleria Bow Market, Look, you have a hair salon right here. So like you kind of have everything you need in your apartment complex. That’s the idea, yeah. A little bow market. I don’t know, it seems like a coffee shop of sorts. We’re gonna go inside here and see what we find. It’s been a while since I’ve been in here. There’s a whole food court. I mean a food court in your apartment building. Can you imagine? Premium wine boutique. We already saw that. Here’s a little pop up selling like dishes, you know, everything a little bit expensive, of course, ceramics. Okay, let’s check out the food court. I believe the food court is over here. Doesn’t look like there’s too many places, but. But we do have one little spot here. Prices. We got pork cutlets 14,900. Pork cutlet and hamburger steak 22,000. We have a Chinese family restaurant over here. Okay. Interesting. Yeah, I’ve never eaten in here, but looks good enough. Black bean noodles, spicy seafood noodle soup. Prices aren’t too bad. Black bean noodles with sauce, 12,000. Chinese set, 22,000. I mean, not cheap. Definitely not cheap. But not too bad either for like a luxury place for one of the most expensive, I believe the number two most expensive complex, you know, housing in all of Seoul. It’s a French bakery. Nice. Oh wow, check this out. Looks like some more baked goods as well. Sweets, desserts, cookies. Nice. Those look good. 8,000 for one pack. Got some cookies here and then some skin care. As you know, Korea famous for skin care. And Oh yeah, there’s, there’s. I knew there was more, more spots here. So we have like a Japanese spot. Sashimi, bibimbap. Big menu. Actually, see this entire food court, It’s a mall. Food court in your apartment complex. I mean it’s just convenience is key, right? Looks like another Japanese spot here. Maybe not. Maybe this is Korean because it’s bibimbap, which is Korean food. Right? You know, maybe I just can’t tell the difference between Japanese and Korean writing. And then we have some soups, something like that, noodles. So all of the Asian food you would want. Then we have another place opening soon and some toilets back there. Otherwise nice. There’s a convenience store out here too. Nice to see you. I mean that’s probably the most convenience thing in the whole. The whole place. Food and convenience store. What else do you really need in your apartment building? So let’s go out this way, cuz I also want to walk toward another complex that is like I think the number three most expensive, most luxury. It’s called the Hills. It’s a little bit of a walk, but yeah. As you see here, just a convenience store, ground seesaw. Not sure what that is, but the escalators, I mean a nice touch. Is this the right side? Yeah. Okay, let’s go. There’s another shop here, Bernard out. Bernardaud. Yeah, they like to sell like a lot of home goods, like plates and kitchen goods and stuff like that. I mean, I guess to decorate your expensive apartment. Right. And then over here, one of the actually most popular coffee spots in all of New York. Blue Bottle coffee. You know, quite popular here as well I suppose. Very nice coffee spot. They have some really good cold brew coffee. You know, I used to drink it all the time. But definitely a nice place to sit down in there. Then we’re going to come out here. I want to show you a little bit of the neighborhood itself because as you can see, I mean just the architecture, the buildings, extremely nice tree lined streets. This little area right here you have a bunch of buses right across the street and right here which kind of connect to just almost everywhere in Seoul. So it’s like an extremely convenient spot. Extremely convenient. This was like another little pop up, like an art pop up. You can see it says pop up house here. Yeah, I mean I honestly take these buses almost every day to get around Seoul. And so for me this is like a five minute walk away. So I mean I’m also in a very, very convenient spot. I’m very happy to be living in Hannam, but I don’t, yeah, I don’t live in like a fancy complex or a fancy home. You know, it’s a much more apartment. So but the whole area, you know, definitely not cheap. Not cheap. You know, massive deposit required. And you know, if you’re looking at anything new, the price is just outrageous. And you know a lot of the places are quite older, so even the older buildings, you know, quite expensive. Quite expensive. Here’s a little spot to charge your phone while you’re waiting. So we’re gonna go across the street. We actually need to go, up there’s an elevator and across and we’re gonna head toward the waterfront is there Gangnam is that way and we’re gonna go to the Hills apartment complex which is a little bit closer to the water. So yeah, let’s head to the other side here. By the way, if you’re enjoying my content and you do want to support Me support the channel. I leave some donation links down below. You know, you can use your card, your bank, and just leave a little donation. I appreciate it. You know, never expect it, but yeah, if you have the means for it, go for it. Highly appreciated. So we’ve made it across the street here. You see, I just had to cross that. There’s the Seoul Tower in the distance. Namsan park very close by. You know, something else that makes the neighborhood quite prestigious, quite luxurious. I’m not even sure that we’ll be able to really go into this area, if I’m being honest. It looks quite guarded, Quite secured. Yeah, I’m not sure. I’m not sure. I could just kind of try and, and walk my way in right here. But I. I don’t think that that’s. I’m not sure. You see Hanam, the hill right there? Yeah. To drive a car inside, I mean, it’s secured, but it’s possible that we can just walk inside. Let me ask this. Hello. Am I allowed to, to walk through to film video? No, no, Private. Okay. Okay, sorry. All right. This is Hanam. The hill. The hill. Okay. Okay, thank you. Yeah, I didn’t think that that would be possible. Had to give it a shot, right? That’s all right. I mean, that’s the thing. The most expensive places in Seoul are typically very privatized. They’re typically gated. You have security 24 7. You know, that’s one of the most important things for rich people. So, yeah, we’re not gonna be able to go in there. What we can do is walk towards the waterfront. There’s a lot of homes over on the waterfront that are really big, really expensive, and it’s just a really nice area. So I’m just going to head that way. And the water just separates Gangnam and, Hanam. Gangnam also, you know, maybe the next most expensive district. Right. I did some videos there already. I did some, like, luxury neighborhood videos in Gangnam. I much prefer Hannam. I think it’s a much better vibe. It’s a little bit, I don’t know, down to earth, you could say. For me, I like the architecture a little bit more. I just like the feel of the neighborhoods a little bit more. Things a little bit cooler. Maybe a little bit younger of, a crowd, you could say, maybe it’s a little bit more hip. I don’t know if I want to use that word, but I don’t know how else to describe it necessarily. But it’s A better feel for me. It’s a better feel. I spent a lot of time in both areas and yeah, I’m thankful that I live in Hanam area. It’s also very close to Itaewon. Like this crazy nightlife spot, you know, so walking to the clubs, very convenient for me. Very convenient. I know. Of course, families are not really thinking too much about that, but. So let’s just turn down this street here. See, we have a lot of shops. Sunglasses and golf. You know, golf is a big thing here. Big thing here. I mean, especially with the wealthier audience. Golf is huge. Golf is huge. What do retired old people like to do? They like to golf, right? They like to golf. I’ll probably be golfing in my old age. Oh, I see. So you enter right here. It almost looked like the same shop. I thought this was the entrance. I got confused. Interesting Treats. Artisan Cake boutique. Then there’s like this old copy print shop just like nestled right in here. Cycling like some. Yeah, like kind of expensive, brand new looking bikes. Right, Ridley? So all the things, all the things that you would want to spend your money on, right? If you’re looking for ways to spend your money. I mean bikes. You know, expensive bikes. We have real estate consulting. Yeah. Golf equipment. I mean, come on, Facials. I mean, spa. Come on. Su Yung Building. So if you’re trying to hit the spa, no problem. I mean, that’s kind of what I think of when I think of luxury. I think of rich people golfing. I think of people hanging out in the massage parlor, you know, getting facials. You know, especially women, especially the wives. It’s just kind of. It’s kind of what you do. And then here is the nine. One and the hill Realty. So if you do want to, you know, get your nine, one spot or the hills, which we cannot enter, you gotta go to, the office there. Or you can probably call them as well. Wow. Then you have like a kind of a old school apartment, just gated off there. Flower shop. Interesting. Some valet parking, of course. Of course. Nice. Just surrounded by shops. A lot of cafes. Cafe culture is huge here. Look at these buildings. This is kind of what I expect to see. I expect to see buildings like this, you know, expensive clothing, Sally Song. So okay, look, apartments. Right above. Really nice. And then we have. Just down this alley, looks like we have more shops and apartments. Hanam Tatsu. Wine dining and sake. Wow. More liquor as well. Wine and spirits. So wine, very huge here. Wine is huge. Some more expensive apartments. Very Expensive apartments. And you can see there’s some older buildings here. So not everything is brand new. But it can really trick you because some of the really old buildings can also be really, really expensive. That is like something very common in Seoul. Of course, the newer ones are probably even more. But like some of these older spots, not cheap and these businesses not cheap. Their monthly rent. A little bar right here. Really nice, like bars. Nice little hangout spots, you know, not big at all. Super small. Just like a couple seats there. What’s this? Important distribution. So more liquor. Osteria Orzo. All right, let’s just take a quick peek here. Looks like we have more apartments. Brunch and wine. Wow. So is this just like alcoholics central over here? Is that what this is? Offices? What’s going on? What’s with all the, the wine over here? It’s like kind of excessive amount of alcohol and wine in a small area. Is that as a, is that a rich people thing to drink? I mean also people come over here who don’t live over here. So you know, you could say it’s kind of like a hangout area. Steakhouse as well, which they have one in Brooklyn. Interesting. I’ve never heard of that place. I can’t even read the name. Looks like it’s Knops. N O P S. Nopes. Knops. I don’t know that spot and I know my steakhouses. Vino Paradise. Here you can see kind of just like little fancy food spots. Spots to drink and eat. Korean grill dining. Kind of empty. A lot of the places right now. You know, it’s 4pm so you know, in the next few hours it’s going to get more busy. It is a Friday, so yeah, just trying to get a view of these buildings, see what’s going on here. Some cool artwork as well in the area. Guys just hanging out, squatting, smoking. We got contemporary dining, Crate coffee over there. We got a gym. The gyms are outrageously expensive. Pilates and gym, So I do kind of want to head to the water. So I’m going to take us this way. I know the bridge is this way and a lot of the waterfront spots are this way. Wow. I mean, pets are huge. Dogs are a big thing here. A lot of like nice dogs, kind of rare, exotic, expensive dogs. And so there’s a lot of businesses based around, dogs, you know, grooming and different outfits for the dogs and stuff like that. You see it everywhere. It’s cool. Gives a good vibe. Starbucks coffee. I mean, gotta have that in every neighborhood, I would say. Let’s see. So Home Plus Express. This is like one of the more popular grocery stores I would say. Korean spot, you can get. Yeah, good quality meat, produce. I actually come over here once in a while. I have some spots that are closer to me, but it’s a good option. It’s a good option. Let’s see. Twinville. Really, really old school architecture. Really nice actually. I like that a lot. And the classic CCTV signs everywhere you are being recorded, you know, security. Hello. Let’s go this way. I actually haven’t explored past the Homeplus Express grocery store. I’ve kind of come to here and stopped as far as I’ve made. Is a, it’s a big neighborhood. I mean it’s. Yeah, it’s big. There’s a lot to explore and you know, I’ve seen a lot of it, but I’ve not seen all of it. So let’s, let’s kind of head to some unexplored territory here. A lot of jewelry and clothing shops everywhere and there’s just new ones popping up every day. Like you see new stores popping up, in Hanam all the time. Constantly. They just old stuff coming down and new stuff opening up. Like I, I guess places go out of business because the rent is so high. You know, some of them are pop ups. So like pop up stores are a huge thing here, especially with clothing. But some of them are not. And some of them are just like, they close down, you know, some traffic. We got a little gallery, art galleries, another popular thing over here. Also not cheap. You know, the prices for a lot of the artwork in some of these places is outrageous. Like outrageous. Hundreds of thousands of US dollars sometimes. So super contemporary spot right here. Look at this. And then right across from this like very kind of older orange colored building. Really stands out, Interesting. Okay, nice. We got a convenience store here. Well, this also very, very, very contemporary style. So it’s just like residencies intertwined with shops, intertwined with restaurants. Everything kind of right next to each other. Very old building here. Got the mirrors, something else you see a lot mirrors on the street. Oh wow. Quite a view right here. I don’t want to go over there because it’s kind of like, you know, on their property, but interesting. So these are some very, very prestigious properties right here. Right on the water, you know, overlooking the water, you have a, a view from your balcony. So you know, I can only imagine the price of some of these homes in the Millions, for sure. Wow. Just like very green. Nice cars typically in the area too. I mean, it’s a Tesla. It’s not crazy, right? It’s like the, you know, just whatever. In this area you see a lot of Rolls Royce, see a lot of Porsche, stuff like this. Try not to get hit. I don’t know what this guy’s doing exactly. I can’t. I don’t know. I think he’s going inside there. The Royalton Villa again, looks quite old, right? It looks old, but spots like that can be outrageously expensive. Then you have the, the gate. Wow. Some goals here, folks, some life goals. Living in, prestigious waterfront apartments, house, condo in the Hanam district. I mean, I’ve made it a little bit, you know, I’m in the Hanam district. I’m just a couple minutes away. But God, is it different? Very different the way that some of these people are living. Look at this. Wow. And they even have like security right out front with the, I think Rolls Royce here. Beautiful, beautiful. Look at that guy. What is that? Look at that entrance. You can fit like eight cars in that entrance. Does that mean, I mean, look at this. It’s like an also like a six car garage here. Wow. Yeah. I’ve never been over here. Never been over here to this spot. You could say I never really had a reason to come over here, but. Oh. So check that out. Goes all the way out to the water. Looks like people are being shown some homes. People are interested in potentially purchasing, a house over here. Look at that. You gotta love the contrast of the extremely old and the extremely new. And just look how these trees are growing over the front gate of some of these places. Wellness. The Hanam, the new wellness programs slow aging. So you could tell that is something that would be absolutely huge with just like a rich housewife demographic. Right. Anti aging and programs like that, things with coaches and you know, full guided programs. You know, that’s a huge, huge business. So I bet they do quite well. This area is so nice. I’m tempted to go down here, see what we find. Mui Studio. Let’s head down here. You can see the water in the distance. This is not privatized. So Mercedes, you just see those again. That’s like another car. That’s just like whatever. You see Mercedes everywhere, but still very expensive. Wow. Of course you have to pay import, import taxes to, to bring cars like that. I mean, Range Rover, you know, now we’re just kind of, they’re just kind of showing off now they’re like, you know, they hear me talking about cars and they’re like, look at my Range Rover. Some folks doing some work here, some, some average folks like me. Some, you know, down to earth, run of the mill folks. Jongok park looks very, very fancy. Some villas here. I don’t know if this is privatized. I mean, it doesn’t look like it, you know, I don’t want to go anywhere that’s too, you know, that I shouldn’t go. But I, mean, it looks like I can walk here, you know. Not sure. Not sure. See, there’s like a little viewpoint from their building here, like a parking garage. Inside you can see the, the highway right here. See the, the waterfront? No. He says no. He says no. All right, as expected. That’s all right. I just wanted to see the, the waterfront, see if we could see the view here. So, it is private. I mean, it’s not gated off, but, you know, maybe they don’t want me inside of their, their area filming things. That’s all right. No problem. No problem. Look at that. Look at that. I mean, they’re like, who’s this white filming, you know, in the property? He’s like, X. X? No, no, no. So what is this? Rentable bikes right here. I wouldn’t expect them to be there. Wow, this is, this is a spot, folks. This is like the spot I thought other parts of Hanam were like, fancy and expensive, even like where I’m staying, but this is just like, what the heck? This is outrageous. This reminds me in some of the, like, rich areas of Kuala Lumpur. When I was living in Malaysia, I did some similar kind of videos in the luxury areas. And it kind of reminds me of that vibe, you know, very big contrast of like contemporary buildings and really old school buildings, but like very, very expensive, very prestigious. So we won’t go too much further. CCTV, 24 hours, no parking, so we shouldn’t go too far. But look at this. That is interesting. Man, Man. But there’s stairs over here. I mean, this looks public. So, okay, so the gate is here. All right. Yeah, we won’t again, we won’t go overstepping our boundaries. But look at this. Wow. I, wonder when this was built. Interesting. Yeah, so this leads us to like, some more apartments or a different part of the neighborhood. So, I 100% believe this is public space to, to walk here. Now I’m sure not many people are walking through here very often, so it’s probably a little bit surprising if they do see me here. But let’s see. Mercedes, obviously. All right, now we get a little bit of a viewpoint. Beautiful. Right on the highway, you know, I don’t know. How noisy, you know, I always said I wouldn’t want to live next to the highway. I wouldn’t want to live on the highway. This, Hyosung. Hyosung Village. Okay. Zeeb Design. Mercedes everywhere. One of the most popular cars in Seoul, interestingly enough. Pavilion cement, you know, again with the fairly contemporary, you know, anytime I see, like full cement, you know, feels very contemporary to me. Lenuvo Un Village. We got some security in there. We got Porsches parked in there. Security guys never like seeing a guy walking by with a camera, you know, it’s just like they sit there all day pretty much doing nothing, right? Like doing next to nothing, just waiting for, for something to happen or, you know, they don’t want something to happen, but you know what I mean? They sit there all day. And so me just walking by with a camera, it’s something for them to be like, oh, what’s this? Wow. Crazy. So, I mean, this place is just really, really cool. And then you have extreme contemporary on the other side. Porsche. I like this one a lot. This is really nice, the way it’s done with the green as well. Yeah. I mean, doesn’t seem like they have any issue with me walking through here. You know, they could assume, you know, maybe they just assume I’m a trustworthy guy. Yes. Here’s the end. So it’s just like a. Kind of a humble apartment here, a couple humble vehicles. But we’re not gonna go any further than that. Right. You know, in some places there is like a white privilege, you could say, where, you know, walking through a certain area, they. They just assume you’re not doing anything wrong. They just kind of assume, oh, here’s just like a, I don’t know, a trustworthy white guy. Right. Whereas if I was, let’s say dark skinned, you know, black skin, they might just be a little bit more concerned, you know, that’s just the reality. Now. I’m not gonna say it’s like purely racism. I’m just gonna say that, yeah, that’s just how things go, in most countries, most everywhere, you know, there’s like a little bit of privilege there. And I’m not afraid to acknowledge that, when I’m doing stuff like this, you know, where I don’t draw as much attention as I. As I could, I don’t know how they Think of it, you know, me being white versus if I was a Korean person doing this. I think no matter what, it doesn’t really matter. It’s like if you’re doing something wrong, if you’re breaking the law, if you’re doing something against the rules, you know they’re gonna stop you, right? You know, if I’m walking in a public space, then no problem. But in general, I think there would be a heightened sense of security. You know, depending on the way I look, my skin color, maybe how I’m dressed. You know, I’m always well dressed, but I can dress a little bit like street wear sometimes, so who knows, right? I’m just. I’m just saying. I’m just making a little small talk. So go this way. We’ve got a taxi approaching us here. This is the Hyosung Village. Again, kind of old school, but surely not cheap. Not cheap at all. Just because this is like old building and many units, I bet it’s outrageously expensive. Anyways, Hyosun Village taxi dropping off a young lady. Nice. There you have it. 1. Thanks Ben. Your English sounds very clear to me who is not goot at English listening. And every sentence goes with flow, which is not only informative even to me Korean but also is enough to training English understanding without any stress. I hope you settles down in Seoul for a long time and films a lot about Korea.

  4. One thing that would make your videos more fun/interesting would be to involve food in my opinion, since SK is so food-oriented. I know you have a very strict diet due to health reasons, but maybe you could bring someone along one time who can try some stuff for you? And you can maybe just have a bite or something? By the way, if you are very strict about eating quality meat, wouldn't it be an option to go to a good Korean BBQ place one time?

  5. Thank you for introducing me to Seoul — a place I've never been to.
It's kind of crazy that I'm getting to know it through a foreigner's eyes! 🤣🤣

  6. No, bro… many people said it wasn't there…
Yeah, it's a wealthier area than Gangnam, but if I remember correctly, many people left comments in the previous video about the wealthiest neighborhoods… But you uploaded something different again.
Well, if this is a buildup to the next video titled "The Truly Richest Areas in Korea," then I'll admit it.

  7. If you keep going up the hill… there is a small park called Dokseodang 독서당 공원. Nice view there…i am living Haebangchon by the way . C u by chance on the street. Or let me show around my area little bit.( You may explored this area more than me.) You are reading Seoul , Korea like a book. Letter by letter , line by line. It's Interesting…third eyes( 외부자의 시선 or 제 3의 눈)

  14. Seoul has 25 districts and 467 dongs.

Everywhere has different history and attraction.

And Korea has more than 3,300 islands.
