A message from Shirakawa GO for the ride

[Music] Heat. Heat. Hey Sarah, how have you been? The other day I went on a ride all the way to Shira Go. Have you heard of it? I think I once showed you a photo of the village all covered in snow. Sent it through line. Remember? It gets tons of snow in winter, so biking there then would be impossible. But since it’s midsummer now, I finally had the chance to go. So today I thought I’d send you this video letter to show you a bit of summer shako go. Hope you enjoy this little story. [Music] [Applause] Shirao Wago is actually a pretty well-known UNESCO World Heritage site hidden deep in the mountains of Gefue. So yeah, getting there means a lot of climbing. It was tough, but totally worth it. The scenery was stunning and the air was super fresh. Check this out. This is a classic thatched roof house. They’re shaped like praying hands, so they’re called gasho zucuri houses. Pretty neat, right? Here’s the viewpoint where you can see the whole village from above. [Music] You can spot the straight road running through the middle with all those gasho zucuri houses lined up on either side. Since this village is so tucked away in the mountains, a lot of the traditional architecture has been preserved [Music] though. Yeah, it’s definitely a tourist hot spot now. To get into the village, you cross this little suspension bridge. And look, there were loads of visitors from abroad, too. The river flowing below is called the Shokawa River. Oh, and here’s something fun. Right in the village, they had this makeshift bamboo shower set up for irrigation, and we all kept taking turns cooling our heads under it. It felt amazing in that crazy summer heat. Everyone was totally heated up from the ride, so we kept going back to that shower again and again, just like little kids. Everyone in the club is super chill and easy to get along with. We even grabbed some shaved ice afterward. It totally hit the spot. iPhone. [Music] [Applause] [Laughter] [Music] [Laughter] Come on. [Music] And this big place here, it’s the water house. The largest gashoui house in the village. indry. Back in the day, they used the spacious attic to raise silk worms and spin silk. Thanks to the clever design, the breeze flows right through, so even the attic stays nice and incredibly cool. Watchtower. [Music] What? Well, time to head back. The ride back. Yep, more hills. But hey, I’ll power through and make it home someday. I’d love to take you here in person. I think I’ve told you this before, but GE’s got so many amazing places. It’s the perfect area for chasing seasonal flowers all year round. [Music] Everyone in the club is looking forward to writing with you too, Sarah. So, hey, don’t forget our promise. All right. [Music] [Music] Can’t wait to see you. Oh, and this Japanese writing here, can you guess what it says? All right, talk to you later. [Music] [Music]
