【四國遍路 香川縣 ep.17】|第83番 一宮寺|不停行錯路|共享單車遍路|74km 大長征|Hello Cycling|Temple 83 Ichinomiyaji|
🥳 It’s the final day of my Shikoku pilgrimage. Just rented a Hello Cycling e-bike at Takamatsu Station. I’ll be heading first to Temple No. 83, Ichinomiya-ji. Today’s route will be a bit roundabout. Because this bike’s battery only covers 36 km, it’s impossible to visit all the temples planned for today. So after visiting Temples 83 and 87, I’ll head back again. To transfer to another bike at JR Yashima Station. Cycling this early in Takamatsu city means I need to watch out for pedestrians. Lots of people are commuting to work or school. That said, in the city streets, there are usually marked bike lanes for cyclists. The hotel Wi-Fi was really slow— only around 3 to 4 Mbps last night. I recorded over 200 GB of video yesterday, and couldn’t finish uploading any of it. Just now I took a huge detour into someone’s village. Because starting at Takamatsu Station and following the main pedestrian walkway, there’s a spot where— you have to push your bike underground and come back up again. There’s no crosswalk there. So I took a longer route, and avoided that junction. Even though this is a shared bike, it’s still heavy— it’s got a motor and battery built in. So far the rain has already stopped. Map says there’s still 6.8 km to reach the destination. Better pedal faster—I left late this morning. There’s a chance I’ll miss one or two temples today. Just now I ended up taking another big detour. The navigation pointed me to climb a steep hill behind Ritsurin Park. Had to quickly find a new route, got back to flatter roads and went around. So I spent more time again. Not sure if I’ll get the chance to enter Ritsurin Park this time— do a lap inside. This kind of road is great for cycling—just one long straight stretch to the end. Earlier I rode into a village with lots of little side paths, if I ride too fast, I keep missing junctions and the GPS has to recalculate. It looks flat, but it’s actually slightly uphill here. Finally arrived at Temple No. 83. Now continuing on to Temple No. 87, Nagao-ji. If the roads stay like this—clear and smooth— and traffic lights don’t hold me up, I should reach the destination quickly. Navigation says there’s 13 km left. Should get there within an hour. As for battery, in standard mode there’s 26 km remaining. That should be plenty. After we visit Temple No. 87, we’ll head to JR Yashima Station and switch bikes. But for the return ride, I can’t use high-power mode— since there’s not enough battery. I didn’t notice the junction earlier and nearly ran into a private car. So when riding through busy city areas again, I need to stay extra alert. Cars can come out from anywhere unexpectedly. That said, drivers here tend to give way to pedestrians and bikes. Still, unnecessary risks should be avoided. As for these shared bikes— even on dry roads, fully stopping takes almost two full seconds.
