Lake Tōya to Kutchan | Riding Toward Mt. Yōtei, Hokkaido MotoVlog

This leg of the journey takes me from the calm shores of Lake Tōya toward the mountain town of Kutchan, with a majestic backdrop of Mt. Yōtei — often called the “Mt. Fuji of Hokkaido.” The road gently rises and curves, offering peaceful countryside vibes, great photo spots, and one of the most scenic inland views in Japan.

🗺️ Route Overview:
Lake Tōya → Makkari → Kutchan
Approx. 60–90 minutes depending on pace and stops.

🌄 Scenic Highlights & Recommended Stops:
• Lake Tōya Lakeside Viewpoints – Especially heading north; look back for sweeping lake and caldera views.
• Mt. Yōtei Viewpoints – The view gets better as you approach Makkari and Niseko. Morning light hits best!
• Michi-no-Eki Makkari – Clean rest stop with views of Mt. Yōtei and great soft serve.
• Miraku Ramen (味楽ラーメン) in Kutchan – Classic Hokkaido-style ramen shop. Don’t miss the miso ramen and gyoza combo. Cash only!

💡 Riding Tips:
• Roads are well-maintained but can be slow behind local traffic. Be patient — the views are worth it.
• Mt. Yōtei can be shy — clearer views tend to be early morning or just after rain.
• If you’re camping, check out nearby sites in Niseko or Lake Hangetsu area.
