Cycling Adventure: How Far Can I Go from Tokyo on a Folding Bike?🚲 | BROMPTON | JAPAN Vlog

Hello 😀 Today I am at Tokyo Station. I also brought my Brompton. This time I am going to make a slightly different trip. I will head south from Tokyo Station, where I am currently located. I have not decided on a route or goal to run. I would like to stop at any place that interests me, and then just keep going south until the sun goes down. The current time is 7:15. I don’t know how far I can go, but I would like to see the ocean if possible. Let’s depart then. It is early in my departure, but I would like to catch a glimpse of the Imperial Palace nearby. This is the plaza in front of the Imperial Palace. This is the center of Tokyo. The Imperial Palace is the site of Edo Castle, so there are moats and turrets. If you apply, you can also tour the inside. Well, I can’t relax too much, so let’s go. I went a little further, but then I realized something here. I’m moving north…… I suddenly lost my sense of direction. I’m glad I noticed it early. Recently, it has become completely hot in Japan. It was 30 degrees Celsius on this day. The shade of the trees is cool and pleasant. Tokyo Tower is now in sight. This is the first time I’ve been near Tokyo Tower. But I don’t have time for sightseeing today, so I would like to visit another time. Now, this is where I am. There is the Rainbow Bridge nearby, so I will go see it. I came to a point where I could see Tokyo Bay. The Rainbow Bridge is visible in the front. It is large even from here. Let’s go closer, to that area. It is very powerful when seen up close. This is a park and free to enter. I arrived just under the bridge. I feel like a child, but it’s amazing that they could build such a big bridge. The sea breeze is pleasant. Now, I am going to leave for the south again. It’s that way. Tokyo is truly a three-dimensional city. I am impressed every time I come here. I have moved quite a bit from the park I was in earlier. The time is now about 10:45. I would like to enter Yokohama before noon… Let’s go this way. I came to a place that had something of a shopping district atmosphere. I seem to have ended up in a place called the Kojiya shopping street. I love the atmosphere of this old-fashioned shopping street. But it’s almost 11:00. I don’t have time to look at it carefully, so let’s pass by. ………….. If I find something like this I have no choice but to buy it. I bought a menchi katsu. Juicy and delicious~! I love eating butcher’s menchikatsu and croquettes in the first town I visit. For me, this is one of the best parts of cycling. I have come to the banks of the Tama River. Beyond the river is Kanagawa Prefecture. Let’s go all the way to Yokohama at once. …I was thinking. There was something mysterious about the place. This appears to be a railroad station called Kokudo Station. According to my research, the station has not undergone any major renovations since it opened in 1930. It’s amazing that it hasn’t changed much over the past 95 years and is still here. There used to be a row of stores, but now there is nothing. This hole in the outer wall of the station is said to be a bullet hole from a machine gun during the war. It seems as if time has stopped since the Showa period. There was a narrow passageway in the station, so I would go there. It’s by a house. Can I go there? This also appears to be a legitimate station entrance. It was interesting to unexpectedly stop by a historic place. It is completely late and I have arrived near Minato Mirai. I would like to take a short break here. Current location is here. I must have driven about 40 km from Tokyo Station. I came slowly while resting, so fatigue is not that bad…. My hips hurt a lot. It feels like my hips is tearing apart. I guess I should buy cycle pants…. If you are familiar with this product, please share your recommendations in the comments. Well, the time is now about 14:15. I don’t have much of an appetite, probably because of the heat. But I would like to take another break somewhere cool. I am heading to a nearby cafe. I really wanted to stop by Yokohama Chinatown, but I didn’t have the appetite or time this time. I took a wrong turn again. The cafe is cool and I come alive…. Anyway, I want to eat something sweet. Let’s eat this. Looks delicious~! Bon appétit. Ice cream is the best in the galaxy after cycling 40km in 30 degrees Celsius…. The sweetness of the whipped cream is a welcome relief from my exhaustion. Pumpkin pudding is also delicious! I was lightheaded because of the heat, but I am recovering. It is now about 15:30. after a good rest. What shall I do after this? Frankly, the heat and sore hips make me hard to cycle any further today… I don’t know how far I can go, but I would like to see the ocean if possible. I’ve seen Tokyo Bay, but I’d rather go see the Pacific Ocean anyway… Let’s try to go as far as I can. I will head straight for the Pacific coast from Yokohama, where I am currently located. There are only a couple of hours left before sunset. I am going to see the Pacific Ocean before nightfall. I will try my best to row at a faster speed. There was a beautiful hydrangea blooming at an intersection at a stoplight. It looks like we are getting close to Kamakura. There’s something important I must share with all of you. My butt can’t take it anymore. Have you ever heard the screams of a butt? This was the first time I heard about it that day. Is that the beach? I am so close to reaching the coastline…. But the sun is now well into the evening. With the pain in my butt, I try my best to make the last spurt. Uphill is hard…. I came to the Shonan Monorail line. I decided to go for the famous spot, Kamakura Koukoumae Station. I think I would see the best ocean there. A little more…a little more… I can see it! So I managed to get there before the sun went down. This is just a railroad crossing, but it has become famous as a sacred place for SLAM DUNK and now attracts many tourists. The sea of Shonan, it’s beautiful. I’m glad I made the effort to come. Enoshima Island and Mt. Fuji at sunset are also beautiful. This is the end of this trip. How was it? This is the first time I have recorded my bike trip with a bike app. The total distance traveled was 77.34 km. The elevation gained is 323m. Total moving time was 6 hours 23 minutes. Calorie consumption was approximately 1,700 kcal, excluding basal metabolism. It was my first time cycling such a long distance, so it was a great accomplishment. This time it is a slightly different kind of folding bike trip.
I challenged myself to see how far I could get from Tokyo Station in one day.
Please take a look at the end to see how far I can go.

  2. The video turned out great, and the final scene in Kamakura was a movie star. But, to be honest, I was worried about your butt. You probably had a severe rash from your underwear. That takes as long to heal as a burn. If you are going cycling, wear only technical clothing. I especially recommend the "bib shorts" for example in Pearl IZumi, These are worn without underwear; if you don't feel comfortable showing off your curves, you can wear any sweatpants over them. But these bib shorts are ideal because they don't bother the belly button area, whether you have a little tummy or not. They also have a special padded area called "chomoix" that accommodates and protects the perianal area.

On the other hand, it's very important that you get the perfect seat for your rear, and since you have a Brompton, you might want to try a Brooks seat model.

I really want a folding bike so I can take it on the train. Here in Japan, I have a classic bike from high school and my MTB, which I brought from my home country. Japan is a beautiful place to ride a bike.

Oh by the way, just yesterday I was in Kokudo, the bullet marks according to the Japanese pages say it was the result of an attack by a P51 Mustang airplane.

  3. "What an amazing cycling adventure! 🚴‍♂✨ You’ve shown us a unique side of Japan beyond the usual tourist spots. The scenery along the way was breathtaking, especially Yamashita Park and Kamakurakokomae Station. Challenging yourself to ride this far in one day is seriously impressive! 💪 Thanks for making us feel like we were right there with you. Can’t wait for more journeys! 🇯🇵❤. from morocco

  4. Brilliant ride, thanks for bringing us along with you. We have hot weather here in England and its hard to ride 10km on my brompton, so I watch you instead.

  5. Watching from N.E. England. Really enjoyed that. Can't wait to get back to Japan, late October I think, my bike is there waiting for me, oh and my girlfriend too lol!

  6. Thank you very much for sharing, it was a great watch! I loved the challenge you gave yourself, I wasn't sure you were going to make it but I'm glad you did!

  7. Hi, the trip so great. I also planning a bike trip at Hokkaido. When u have lunch at a restaurant, where will be the Brompton placed normally ?
