蘇我馬子が埋葬されていたのではないかと推測されている、
奈良県明日香村にある巨石古墳です。

方墳か上円下方墳であったのではないかと推察されています。
盛土は無くなってしまっているので、実際にどうであったのかはわかりません。石室のみ残っている状態です。
7世紀初頭の築造だとされています。

約30の石が積まれ、その総重量は2,300トンに達するとされています。
ものすごい重量級の石が重なっています。
現代の技術でも大変手間とお金が掛かる工事になると思います。

国の特別史跡。

内部に入る事もできます。
石に囲まれた玄室は、少し怖く感じます。
落ちてきたらヤバいです。落ちないから入れるんでしょうけれども。

周辺は公園として整備されていて、駐車場やお土産店があります。
食事もできます。

たまたまですが、訪れた時には周辺の学校から遠足がたくさん来ていました。
