I thought you all would get a kick out of seeing the various kinds of bikes you can find at a bicycle shop in Japan. I was surprised at how you could get a decent quality mama chari (city bike) for not too much ¥
Japanese dont have the it factor on repairing bikes
Very Eco-friendly, money-saving and health oriented.
Bicycles are much cheaper than in Poland.
Is there a trusted japan bike shop in shopee? Or at leasta shop that sells japan made bike in shopee. Please tell me😭
Awesome bike shops in Okinawa Japan are MAIYO Bicycle Shop and SHUHARI Bike Works. Great bikes, great service and super friendly people. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️
no hutch
?
They have simple but useful cycle.we have just timepassing enjoying travelling cycle without any good carriege n safety. Japan cycles are good for useful work.❤❤❤
I would love to visit a Japanese bike shop. I bet they would have bikes small enough for me.
locals told me 1 theft of convenience, as its easy if you leave it unlocked, and 2 less for the money as most common bike are beater types. bikes are all over Tokyo and Osaka, but theft seems more prevalent in Tokyo, you see more unlocked in Osaka. Coincidentally, Tokyo was the first place I saw street graffiti after touring other big cities.
Mostly using these videos to get a idea of cycling culture. Would love to see used bike shops and bicycle co-ops. I wonder if I'd be able to find a bicycle for my 6'5" frame.
Awesome content ❤
Every bike I saw seemed pretty basic. Not like the more advanced bikes I see in my neighborhood.
absolutely love your channel comparing to the other ones! could you make a video on thrift shopping in tokyo?
This was a pleasant video. Thank you.
You haven't locked your bike in a decade? You must ride a junker and live in a tiny backwater town. Seatpost clamps should be the non-quick release type for city bikes. I recently heard somewhere that thieves don't even want regular bikes anymore; just ebikes.
panasonic makes crazy good track frames. fixed culture in Japan is something else
Good effort
Beautiful bicycle shops are very organized and look like the stuff is friendly and knowledgeable, something you won't find in most bicycle shops , I have a bike from Walmart for my brother, the guys at the bicycle department has no knowledge of the bikes no clue
Why would anyone want to ride a foreign brand like Colnago when they can ride a Japanese brand Bridgestone with easy step thru bar.
Stolen bikes are more prevalent than you reported.
In Japan many people do not report stolen bicycles.
But even if you doubled the reported number. The theft rate of bicycles in Japan is lower, much lower than in the U.S.
this is really interesting! i feel like biking is much more friendly in japan than it is in the states, as so many people bike for their essential errands. the employee was also very descriptive and informative, which i feel like many equivalent employees in the usa might not be. japan wins!
One thing I was curious about, that you didn't touch-on, is transmissions. Are most "city bikes" single-speeds? — or have 3-speed (or 5-speed) geared hubs?
i can relate to this because of sinchan
Japanese ebike law is so disappointingly draconian.
Expected more road ("racing bike" as non cyclists live calling them) bikes from the birthplace of Shimano.
Thanx for sharing
Your bicycles look great there, sir.
After living in Japan for 8 years then moving to Australia. My $200 mamachari from Japan is 100x more powerful than my $400 road bike here. On top of being comfortable as a city bike.
160k for a bike. Wow
Can I buy some good gear, like Campag?
I believe his math is off with the stolen bikes of 100-200 vs 1300 per 100k, that'd be 12-13 times, not 6.
So nice video, interesting the bike culture differences while keeping the same love to bikes
Japanese used bikes for personal commuting while in Netherlands the bikes were used to transport items thus the cargo bikes.
The thing that intrigued you about the shops WAS the ubiquity of them.
I´d still ride my 1994 Koga Miyata SkyCarbolite 😎
