Day 12 On the Road: Temple Mornings & Snowy Passes | Cycling into Echizen, Japan

After Lake Biwa, I stayed overnight at a small countryside temple near Nagahama.
I chanted sutras with the head monk and made rice balls by hand before heading toward Echizen.

The road took me deep into the forest.
At the top of the pass—snow. In April.
And no signs of melting.

Coming down into Minamiechizen, I found some of the most peaceful cherry blossoms I’ve seen so far.
No crowds. No noise. Just a bicycle, some still air, and the quiet hum of spring.

In Echizen, I stayed at a hostel, did some laundry at a coin wash, and bought eggs for the next morning.
Nothing dramatic. But a good day.
