  1. They were one of the coolest devices when i was a kid. Too bad the efficiency is low. Using Vapor Compression Cycle is much more efficient even if they're not solid state. Good video 👍👍

  2. While watching the video I started thinking about if it would be possible to combine a bigger array of peltier modules and a joule thief, and just utilize the temperature difference between ambient and wet bulb temperature, to maybe charge small batteries, extremely slowly, not if it would be practical, but if it would be possible without an insane number of peltier modules, and then you mentioned efficiency, that made me laugh.

Great episode, even if I think the energy represented by the ice should have been included in the efficiency calculation, as it is the difference, not just the hot reservoir that represents the energy source.

  4. There is video of a guy that insulates one side snd creates energy from temperature oscillation of the environment.

  5. 0.6% is actually quite good. Great job!
You can achieve 2-4% at best but that requires a very high delta temperature and insulating all paths.

  6. Great video! I really enjoyed watching this, and it gave me some ideas for experiments to try. Greetings from the United States.

  7. What are the most effficient peltier devices? I was thinking of researching a drink cooler using a small solar panel.

  8. IIRC this is basically how deep space probes are powered. Instead of candles, they use a chunk of plutonium as the heat source.

  9. Of course, at 10:00 you can put a blade on the motor and use it to cool the system instead of the ice bath giving unlimited* power.

    * may not work as expected afterApril 2.

  10. Congratulations on the video and excellent explanation of the experiment! I also saw the previous video where you used cells to cool and I’m curious…Have you ever tried to use cells for heating? may be that their efficiency is better than a classic resistance
