「鯖街道」は、福井の小浜と京都の出町柳を繋ぐ約70kmの古道で、複数のルートがあります。
アスファルト道が多いためサイクリングに適していますが、峠道もあるのでハイキングも組み合わせて楽しむことができます。
また日本海の入り組んだ地形を利用して青の洞窟などシーカヤックを楽しむフィールドとしても注目されています。
鯖街道の小浜は、御食国（みけつくに）として知られ、古代から中世にかけて朝廷に食料を献上していた地域で、伊勢志摩、淡路、若狭の小浜という三つの地域の一つに数えられています。
日本の首都（都）であった奈良・京都の皇室に日本海の新鮮な食材を贈り届けるために、日本海の鯖などの魚介類を発酵させ腐らないようにして運んでいたことから、それが寿司の起源になったとも言われています。
鯖街道はそういうわざわざ行く価値があるストーリー溢れる古道なのです。
今回私たちは、サイクリングとハイキングとカヤッキングを組み合わせたアドベンチャーをします。

小浜の西組は江戸時代の歴史的な町並みが美しく保存されています。遊郭の後も残されており、北前船で栄えていたころの面影を感じることができます。

熊川宿は若狭と京都との交易の拠点として発展した宿場町です。落ち着けるカフェや居心地のいい宿がある小さな集落です。

「三方五湖」は5つの異なる水質の湖からから構成されており、またサイクリングコースも整備されているので湖畔のサイクリングをゆったりと楽しむことができます。

The old road is suitable for cycling as many parts have been paved with asphalt, but there are also mountain passes that can be combined with hiking.

The intricate topography of the Sea of Japan has also attracted attention as a field for sea kayaking, including the Blue Cave.

Obama, on the Saba Kaido, is known as Miketsukuni, and was one of the three regions that supplied food to the Imperial Court from ancient times to the Middle Ages: Ise-Shima, Awaji, and Obama in Wakasa.

To send gifts of fresh foodstuffs from the Sea of Japan to the imperial families of Nara and Kyoto, which were the capitals of Japan. The origin of sushi is said to lie in the fermentation of mackerel and other seafood from the Sea of Japan, which prevented them from spoiling. The Saba Kaido is an ancient road full of stories that make it worth the trip.

Kumagawa-juku is an inn town that developed as a trading center between Wakasa and Kyoto. It is a small village with relaxing cafes and cozy inns.

The Mikata-goko (Mikata Five Lakes) consists of five lakes with different water qualities, and the bike paths are well maintained, allowing visitors to enjoy cycling along the lakeside at a leisurely pace.
