What was I thinking? Back to the brutal Alta Via Bikepacking Route
Cycling the world – Europe: 177 episode
In this episode of my round-the-world bike tour, I descend from the rugged Alta Via dei Monti Liguri into the valley, spending the night behind a chapel before continuing to the seaside. After reaching Imperia for some rest, I head to a wild camping spot above Cervo that I discovered on iOverlander. The following day, I get lucky with a warm host in Savona, where I decide to rejoin the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri bikepacking route. Before hitting the trail again, I visit Cecilia and Luca, who hosted me in Malawi when I passed through Mzuzu during my journey across Africa. With two different tracks loaded into Komoot and MapOut, and an official mountain bike route from AltaVia.info, it’s time to face the challenges of this demanding route once more.

Let me say, that when you import a route to Komoot and choose bicycle instead of gravel bike, it will send you onto asphalt. So always choose gravel,….or, if you want to be brave, choose MTB 😂
