Fui al pueblo que genera electricidad con el viento | Los eólicas de Santa Ana, Honduras
Today we are going to visit the city of the wind and the wind turbines in Santa Ana. I am with my guide Brian and he says that he has something important there. It was where I lived when I was little. That was the Casa de Esperanza boarding school. It was a home for children who grew up on the streets. Of course, for children who grew up on the streets, who didn’t have parents. Shout out to Mark, who was the founder of the project. Of course, shout out to Mark Tinder, because he was the organizer and founder of the house of hope. We are getting closer to the wind turbines that were there but they have already turned on. To the left is a children’s school. Did you study there? Yes, this is a kindergarten there. Some what this will be. They sell oils and car parts. It also has a Chinese restaurant here. The rice is good there. Yes, it’s good. Most Holy. Today, a weekend is filled with tourists in that Santa Ana and Ojojona sector. Yes, on Sundays in Ojojona and Santa Ana, tourists always come because it is a day to rest. The houses here in Santa Ana, made of brick or adobe with tile roofs. Only the remodeled houses are those that have sheets, the rest are old houses, so they are still with tiles. And here you walk up and down, okay? Yes, here you walk up and down and you don’t have to always have strength. How many minutes are we there? Ah, Ojojona. About fifteen, twenty minutes away. By motorcycle taxi about three minutes. About three, five minutes. Yes. And I see that Santa Ana is much smaller than Ojojona. It’s best known here for wind power, right? Here it is better known for wind power, it is a, the center is a little smaller. There is a barbershop here. Also a bar. Singapore Bar. How’s the nightlife out there? I don’t know, I don’t like nightlife. Better, better the church, right? Yes, the church is better. How many churches are there here. They have two churches here. This is the main one that is in the Plaza de la Santa Ana. Oops, but here on the right, Dolby area. What could this be? The Dolby zone is placed here, which is a mobile disco that plays music. You can see that there is a clinic over there to the left as well. Wow, what a bunch of dogs that have come out. Here I have been running in the morning. And yes, they have chased me. Very careful and here is a greengrocer. Those are pumpkins, right? Yes, pumpkins. Those are misleading. We tried those yesterday in Ojona, thinking they were orange. With mandarin lemon. Wow, look at the size of the cassava or I don’t know if those are sweet potatoes. Hello. Hello. Where were you going? For the House. Ah, for the house. Yes. Greetings to my dad’s mother. Greetings. There is a clothing store here. Hello. Dragon Ball. What are people saying about Dragon Ball here? I was n’t going to tell you why I don’t like it. This truck brings water to the communities. How much does it cost to get water? Some sell it for thirty lempiras a barrel, others for fifty, so yes. Very expensive. Olga Market. Look, this is the beer that we have seen the most here in Tegucigalpa, the imperial one and a good price. Before it was twenty lempiras. And now it is eighteen lempiras. We haven’t seen much commerce here. What do people do? The thing is that here the trade is often based on wind power. How beautiful on the left we go Asian style. Villa Mama Mina, what is that? It’s like what they often call grandma. Several shops on the shore and also a Chinese restaurant. How far are we from Tegucigalpa? About forty- five minutes from Tegucigalpa. Here it says national registry of the people of Santa Ana. What is the population of Santa Ana and Ojojona approximately? About three hundred thousand. Seriously , three hundred thousand people. It’s because there are many villages outside too. Yes, there are many villages outside. From here begins a very pretty boulevard with lamps that divides the two lanes. And a cooperative savings bank, typical here, a family eating soup. Oh, it comes from a wedding, I think. Having the wedding soup. Oh, yes, because here there is tripe soup. That’s the justice of the peace. Why that, right? It is to solve the problems that families or even neighbors normally have. And someday you You decide to get married, here you come to sign. Yes of course . OK, we arrive at the church, this is the main cathedral of the city. God, hey, greetings to the friends from Japan. Hello. Hello. Municipal Palace of Santa Ana. This is where the mayor’s office works. Here the mayor always takes care of the people. OK, here’s the I love Santa Ana sign . Let’s take a photo with Brian, so we have a souvenir. Where does it come from, friend? We come from Tegucigalpa. To walk here in Ojojona de Santa Ana. Ah, a spa here in Ojona. Where does it come from, friend? From Houston, I come to visit. Oh really? Yes. Greetings to Houston, my family there. The town has changed here. Ah, nice. Before it wasn’t pretty. No, yes, nice, but now it has changed a lot, already? Where does it come from, friend? From here in Santa Ana. And where were you going right now. Here I pass in it. A barbershop. Ah, barber. Yes. He says there is a barbershop here that has a gym inside. An original concept. You have some of that too, seriously. Wow, yes, it’s true. Look, the barbershop where when you wait for your cut you can get all worked up. Friend, how did the idea of having a barbershop along with the gym come about? When the client is waiting, they can go there to exercise while they wait. Thanks very much buddy. Great mural, the city of the winds. Yes, there is a health center here if you get sick. Oh, a pastry too. Wow, the view from here is beautiful. What does Maria say about the view, friend? It’s good. Where does it come from, friend? From Residencial Santa Cristina. Not so good before if I lived in Tegucigalpa. Now he lives here. Yes daddy. Yes. What do you want to say to your daddy when he watches this video? I love her very much and I appreciate her. Why did you decide to leave? Tegucigalpa is very congested and very populated and here we got an opportunity and it is very beautiful here. There are many people who are leaving to go live in towns like that now. We are one of them and we are really living better. Rent is cheaper in those towns. Well, thank God we bought a house. Congrats friend. Wow, it’s great that it has fruit, huh? How much is my fruit worth? Fifty okay, let’s buy. Let’s try the fruit. How did the idea of selling fruit here come about, friend? To bring in an income, right? But I got the idea with popcorn . Tourists coming? Yes, the second was the tutti frutti. And from there I innovated with the cicada, the mango. Little by little. You live here in Santa Ana. My mom lives here, I live in El Sauce. It’s his. Nephew. And she’s a niece too. What is your mom selling here? Crazy pineapple, watermelon, and mango. What do you say, friend? Oh yeah. Since there are so many with the crazy pineapple. Let’s order an order of pupusas. Well thank you very much. Let’s try the pupusa here from Santa Ana. Chicharrón cheese. This is two seventy lempiras worth this order. Oops, what is that? That bus is crazy. Yes, it is a bus from Santa Ana that goes to Tegucigalpa and back. How much does it cost? Twenty lempiras from here to Tegucigalpa. It’s already over. How delicious they are. Look at the number of cars that come in from people coming on a Sunday with their whole family to relax. We are going to buy bread that we are going to eat there as a picnic style when we get to the Aeolians. Homemade bread. Homemade bread, quesadillas, pastries. Man, we want these friends, how much is it worth? Three for fifty lempiras. Oh well, give me about three. What do you say about that bread, friend? Delicious. It’s bread from the south. What is this type of bread called? Homemade bread they call it here. That’s it, no additives. One hundred percent natural. Greetings to the friends from Japan who come here to meet. We hope you come to bring your homemade bread, quesadillas, cosquillas, curds. How many minutes walking to the city? Three, four, five minutes, on foot. But by car, three minutes. Thank you so much. Suddenly , for a little while he wants to say hello to me. Hello. Nice to meet you. where they are? Nacaome. Hey, long live the south. where are you going now? Everyone comes to walk here. Everyone, everyone. Pure woman, a male here goes. Hey, this, this male is happy. Well, well, we see. We are in a place where it is normally known as where the dead rest. They bring the people who come carrying the coffin here and place it there. A tradition here. Yes, it is a tradition. Until tourism has progressed here, people come from far away. The majority have been from the capital, but they already come from even the south. People have even come from Comayagua, long places. Tell us, Brian, for people who want to stay in that sector, tell us about the Rincón Ojojona hostel. You can find us in Rincón Ojojona on Instagram and also on WhatsApp at thirty-three fifty-five thirty -seven eighty. Well, in a five-minute drive from where we were, we arrived at the pass where the wind turbines are. I think this is a Costa Rican restaurant. Probably yes, someone from Costa Rica came to open this restaurant. There is even a hostel here, why do so many people come? Just literally coming to see this or is it for something else. People came only to see what wind turbines are. But then, little by little, they began to open restaurants and boost tourism a little more. Here is another restaurant, here there is pure roast meat, he made a minute for later today. Snows. For this heat. On the other side it seems to be a bar. That maybe it opens in the night, Abraham. Yes, they open about three o’clock, it is now open so that people can come and enjoy with family and friends. Right now, if you look closely, there isn’t much wind. But when there is wind, the turbines move faster. Ah, yes, because this morning it is moving the turbines, not now, it is because there is no wind. Yes, many times it is because there is no wind, so the engine is spinning on its own. If the wind doesn’t come back, we would have to blow quite hard for that to happen. We have to start blowing now to be able to make them move. Bryan approximately How many wind turbines are there here? About sixty-five. How strange that one looks like it burned or something, I don’t know. There was a lot of wind and so they were moving very fast so they had to brake it and that’s why it burns because of the brake. Tell us nonsense and how do these turbines work? They operate with a purpose to provide energy to the people. What do you have here? Look. We have yuca with chicharrón enchiladas, horchata, tea, grass, lemon, chocolate, and pinol for sale . These wind turbines produce energy only for Santa Ana or for the entire country. They are supposed to sell it to other countries. I don’t know if he’ll just stay here. Here we meet Don Isidro who is originally from here in Santa Ana. Tell us about the history of the turbines, more or less what year they began to build these. They had the turbines for about fifteen to twenty years, an antenna, a wind turbine to see how much air they generated, but when the turbine was extracted, they looked to see if it gave electricity, the project. That project had a secondary benefit. It brought tourism. Yes, correct, and when entering tourism, well, there is already a generation for families who can now go into business to provide daily support for their children. That’s how it is. Wow, how much does this duck cost? Seventy- five. Excellent price, the famous, yuca with chicharrón. Look, the skin is still coming out of the pig. It means that this is going to be good. Gabriel is crouched, so he can see the turbines behind me. Rony thought this was a tangerine. No, that was lemon, tangerine, deceptive, and very juicy, look, for those pork rinds with a lot of meat. Now the yucca. Oh, it doesn’t have much flavor, but let’s look for the sauce, let’s see. No, it has a lot of flavor, but yes, the chicharrón is very good. The chicharrón has quite a bit of flavor. Hello, friend, how much do kites cost? Seventy. Seventy lempiras. Excellent price. Wow, friend, tell us about these. We have propellers at one hundred and eighty lempiras. These are handmade. Yes, we make them by hand. And that big one, how much is it worth? That one costs five hundred lempiras. We wanted to buy, but they didn’t have any loose, so the recommendation for tourists to bring change. This is where Dragon Ball came, and even the wind turbines here. There very nice. This area is for picnics, families eating there with their pets, you can ride the horses, it has trampolines and photo sessions. Oh, look, even the dog came for the propellers. Lots of bees, those bees yes. I love the snows. That includes the bee already. No, we give it, we give it for free. Wow, how delicious it looks. What does this one come with? Beer, blueberries, and mango. Comes with blueberries. That’s going to be good. Yes, we want something like that, with blueberries. Hey, my favorite fruit. Our partner is using energy from the car battery. Don’t you have plans to electrify this place for entrepreneurs? No, right now I don’t think so, yes. Wow, I want two bees too. Thirty lempiras. They weren’t free, they cost thirty lempiras. How did the idea of selling snow here come about, friend? We have had this business for years, we. Twenty years there. That was before there were the o’s. Before, before we were in Ojona. Sell better here. Yes. Well, let’s try my friend Javier’s snows, with blueberries and lots of bees. This is very good. Look, with mangoes, coconut, let’s grab a little more ice. That coconut is very cool. Rich. Didn’t you cut it? Yes. Let’s see. The Peach. Very very good for that hot day. Let’s try the drinks here from Santa Ana. A toast. Looks like you have hot chocolate here , right? Hot chocolate , yes, it looks super delicious. He stole it from a kid there, right? No. What do we have here? Lemongrass tea . It is a drink that calms stress. And it relaxes you. So, let’s go to How delicious. It’s good, huh? That’s lovely. Not that, no chocolate, just sugar, I think. But it’s super rich. This is delicious because there is no sugar. The coffee is very good too. I think it’s Santa Barbara coffee. Let me see if you’re from Santa Barbara. I’m going to ask. Friend, that coffee, where does it come from? Where does coffee come from? From San Marcos de Colón. Wow, yes, he has a good level. The cafe of San Marcos de Colón. We were there, a little ago. It is like the only sector in the south that produces coffee because it is up the mountain and it is fresh. It has the same flavor as the best coffee in Honduras. From Santa Barbara. That’s from San Marcos de Colón. Let’s see if our friend can sell us a blanket or a large towel because we want to live that picnic experience here where the turbines ah perfect. How much is it friend? Is it free for you seriously? Thanks my friend. Thank you. We just gave this blanket to our friend. Well let’s go for a romantic lunch with my friend Brian. Of course always among friends. Hello friend, right? Of course. Just friends. Here I bring them to you. It’s a gift and what. Oh really. To small entrepreneurs. Thank you so much. Thank you so much. Wow look at the wind propellers, let’s see what he says about the wind chickens. Let’s try the tajadas. Quite a lot of sauce. Juicy. The dressing has very good flavor. Go for the chicken, Brian, the best part, the chuco chicken, here from the capital area. Good enough that I even got full. He even filled his beard, filled his beard, look, look. Brian says the slices are very delicious. We’ll see if it’s true. The sauce is excellent, with avocado we’ll see. Oh, it’s much better. I like this food from the trocas that comes with a lot of sauce. It’s the same sauce and it’s very good, it’s the best part, the sauce. The cameraman can’t stand the wait anymore. Go straight for the taquitos and be careful with the bees, okay? He broke it in half. Very rich. And the sauce? Excellent. With the wind tacos. The oops tea and that tea comes with Put inside. How strong. That’s all Gabriel. We’ll see. It’s just that he’s not used to the chef. Oh no, that’s sweet, name, it’s very good. Oh it’s like mint. Look how crazy that dog was that didn’t come close. Look at the eyes. Two eye colors. Could it be that he had a father with blue eyes and a mother with brown eyes? What is your name sir? Here we are with Don Franklin, the sauce is too delicious, I imagine no one was talking about those ingredients , right? Family secrets that touch is made from home that is not said at all how the idea of selling here was born? We came up with the pandemic, so we had not thought about this line, and well, we encouraged ourselves and here we are fighting. We have been here for about four years. Have some Japanese come to learn about this here? Well, I’m going to tell you that people come from all over Honduras and from all over the country. No one leaves dissatisfied because they are well cared for and well served. Yes, they leave with beautiful photos and a full belly. Full belly happy heart. Happy people, right? Thank you so much . To the order. Thanks my friend. OK. Thank you. I just met two children. They say they want to be in the video, right? Yes. His name. Maricarmen. Martin. Martin. You are the older brother of theirs. Genesis. Rony. What do they have for them? A couple of kites so they can showed that they can go. If you can. They are from Santa Ana. Yes. Oh well, they are from the city of Viento. So, I imagine they are experts in that, okay? Here it is. For the girl. Yes, for Martín, for Genesis, it goes. There’s going to be a prize for the best kid who can fly, yeah. Wow, that’s fast, Genesis. I win. Genesis already won. In a second. You have to run, but be careful, right? Because the wind is super strong. Loosening it more. To make it go higher. Go. The brother’s head is going to break. Maricarmen is there. A little more. Kite. Ah, it’s the first time. With worried eyes. The mother is coming, the mother is coming to teach Mari Carmen here. Yes, she had a childhood here in the windy city. Let’s see, let’s see, let’s see, huh. That. How does your mom seem to you? Is doing well? He fell. Wow, look, who’s doing that? There, what crazy there? And who is that? I don’t know. Any expert, where is the owner of that kite? How’s it going, Genesis? Nothing, he says. Sir, what is the secret of doing what you are doing? These kites are poorly made. Ah, but he’s doing it super. When I was young, my dad taught me how to build them, we made them, so these kites need a weight in the middle. Oh. That’s why they go from corner to bottom. Mary is seeing how our friend is doing here. One hand has this and the other hand is swinging it. How do you think? Oh he fell. He fell well and died. Oh. What does Rony say? He mentions that he placed a branch in the center of the paper so that it would not move. Rony says that that looks easy. Let’s see if he can do it. Rony, what happened, Rony? Okay, excuse me, okay. Yes. Wow, mom did it. You believe that one day your children, too, can fly to heaven. Not only the kites, but the dreams of them. Every mother’s dream is that her children can succeed in life. And be people to admire just as you are. Thank you so much. Thank you so much. Wow, that kid in the red shirt. It’s very good too, they do it better than Rony. OK, Rony, finally , after an hour he learned. More or less, more or less, Ronny’s thing fell through. Wow, look at the girl, how does she feel, Mary? Good. A pro, an expert now. You don’t have to let go, right? OK, ours is the highest. Of everything, we are winning Mari, when he wins, what does he want to be? Engineer just like my dad. Greetings to your dad. That I love you very much. We are reaching the level of wind turbines. Mommy is trying, but she has already forgotten the technique. The daughter has already surpassed her. OK, I think that’s as far as it got because if we keep saying this, the thread is going to end and it’s going to fly away. Now you have to roll it to the other side. Wow. Ah, it’s gone, rightly so, it’s gone. Let’s go pick it up. Even Diego, incredible. Okay Mary here are two let’s go Bryan Where are we now? Now we are at the cross of scrap Tell us about that cross, tell you that it was built with the pieces of the plane that crashed up here on the little tables in 1998. We can move forward and there are also everywhere representations of all the greatest religions in the world. We have Hinduism . Christianity and finally we also have Buddhism. There are also some plants that are said to have been used to create Jesus’ crown with thorns. There is another one, right? They are for people to come and take one in representation seeing the town of Santa Ana with the wind propellers behind and also on the other side we have what is the Tegucigalpa area so the plane crashed here in 1998. The plane crashed in the back there and also up here a plane also crashed back in two thousand ten that was carrying about twenty-eight passengers. They all died. No. I think there were three or four left alive. In the first big one, a few people also survived, right? And about fifteen to nineteen people survived. And he died about one hundred and thirty-seven. Here is a house that is also a museum and the museum’s guide. Ezequiel tell us about that museum. These are the sacred books, each with its original language. This is the Quran of Islam, the Aramaic, the Italian, the English, the new prophecies of our lady. The Mormon book, the sacred one, the choral one and this is the holy bible that is written in Spanish and is the Catholic one. These are small balls that were donated from China to release stress. This is a Chinese rosary that the Chinese use every time they pray. This is a gas lamp, it is the torah of the Jews and this is the father of the Jews to enter the world of lamentation. This is the incense that Buddhists use . These are old cameras. Ancient and here these below are some animals that are encapsulated. A dining room. That’s a coral. This is a rattlesnake and this is a lobster. And the mascot here. But some visitors came and thought she was wild and killed her. So we dissected her here so she would always be with us. Because all religions are represented here. No nature is free to come here. Respecting each person’s language that the only thing is to be with the Lord Jesus Christ. They monalize it, could it be the original? Yes I think so. Thank you so much. Brian, where are we? Now we are in Catrachiland. It is a place where people can come to stay in their champas or even get their champas here. About fifteen, twenty minutes from the wind turbine park. Xiomara. Wow, Xiomara, her hand is strong, right? Wow, this is a car, or what is it? A little dive. We sell coffee, here you go. Twenty lempiras and rosquillitas. Well, maybe we won’t be able to prove all the information, since there was no one to help us, but hey, I think you can rent one of those and they’ll give you one so you can stay in here overnight, it’s not that hard. the earth here because it has sawdust down there. There are about seven, eight of these, and each one has its space to make a campfire. And here is a soccer field too. And there’s a couple over there playing something. Supposedly it is five hundred lempiras per person, but I am not one hundred percent sure, since it was a man who was walking there who told us that. Ah, that ‘s for playing golf here, right? How is? That’s how hard that ball was. We are incredibly close to the turbines. You hear the movement of the machines. Well, let’s go back to the wind farm for a family picnic. Well, thanks to the boy who gave us the blanket. We are going to have our romantic picnic with the bread we bought from the man there. Rony grabbed a dinner. He grabbed one. Let’s try the bread. Let’s see what he says. Lots of chocolates. Chocolate again, Rony. The bread is a little hard but with the tea it softens it a little. Brian. A little coffee, ah. I think Brian. I wanted to be here with four women, right? With four men, but the bread It’s good, right? Yes, coffee too. We spent a nice afternoon here in Santa Ana, with friends. Family, rather. And for people who want to come and stay last night, Brian is the manager of Rincón Ojona. Below I am going to leave all the information. Thank you very much, Brian. You for visiting us and preferring us. And thank you very much to each of you for watching today’s video. Bye bye.
