内房線は、千葉県の千葉市中央区の蘇我駅から房総半島の西岸（東京湾側）を経由して同県鴨川市の安房鴨川駅へ至る、東日本旅客鉄道（JR東日本）の鉄道路線（幹線）です. この美しい海岸線と里山を満喫できる路線は、蘇我駅で外房線から分岐し、安房鴨川駅で再び外房線に接続します。全線が直流電化されており、国土地理院鹿野山測地観測所の近傍区間では直直デッドセクション方式を採用しています 。 蘇我駅から君津駅までは複線区間で列車の本数も比較的多く、東京都区部や神奈川県内と直通運転する快速列車なども運行されています。一方、君津駅以南は単線区間で列車本数は少なくなりますが、休日には南房総と新宿駅を結ぶ特急列車「さざなみ」や自転車を持ち込める「BOSO BICYCLE BASE」が運転されます 。
The Uchibo Line is a railway line of East Japan Railway Company (JR East) that runs from Soga Station in Chuo Ward, Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, to Awa-Kamogawa Station in Kamogawa City, Chiba Prefecture, via the west coast of the Boso Peninsula (Tokyo Bay side). This line, which allows you to enjoy the beautiful coastline and countryside, branches off from the Sotobo Line at Soga Station and reconnects to the Sotobo Line at Awa-Kamogawa Station. The entire line is electrified with direct current, and the section near the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan’s Shikanoyama Geodetic Observatory uses the direct dead section method. There are relatively many trains running between Soga Station and Kimitsu Station on the double-track section, and there are also rapid trains that run directly to the wards of Tokyo and Kanagawa Prefecture. On the other hand, the area south of Kimitsu Station is a single-track section and there are fewer trains, but on holidays there is the limited express train “Sazanami” that connects Minamiboso and Shinjuku Station, and the “BOSO BICYCLE BASE”, which allows you to bring your own bicycle.
