宋の古都、開封市を訪ねて

Today, I woke up at 5 a.m. and
traveled
from Luoyang in Henan Province
to Kaifeng.
Kaifeng flourished as the capital of the Eight Dynasties
from the Xia Dynasty to the Song and Jin Dynasties
. There is a very famous painting
in China called “Pictures of the Shang River in the Qingming Dynasty”
, which depicts
the state of Kaifeng during the Song Dynasty when it was very prosperous
.
The first place we visited was
the Shi Pagoda, a Buddhist pagoda built in 974 during the Song Dynasty.
Originally, it was more expensive, but
it was broken a little and
the one with a cheong on top
was apparently added during the Qing Dynasty.
When you look at it from the front, it looks like this, and
it’s hexagonal.
When I went to Xi’an,
I saw two pagodas built during the Tang Dynasty, and
they were square in shape.
After that, it developed into an octagonal shape,
but this hexagonal pagoda
was built during that transitional period
, and is said to have a rare shape that is hard to see.
As I approached it, I
saw a row of round Buddha statues lined up on the sides,
a beautiful fusion of square and circular shapes.
It shows different colors
depending on how the sun hits it .
Enjoy Kaifeng’s famous xiaolongbao.
It’s hot!
I came to see the second tower left in Kaifeng.
The “steel tower” is the most prestigious tower in the world.
After many disasters and wars,
it still stands peacefully in Kaifeng City.
This pagoda was built during the Northern Song Dynasty and
has a history of 1,000 years.
Kaifeng
flourished as the capital during the Song Dynasty, but
the town sank
due to the flooding of the Yellow River during the Ming Dynasty
. Even in that flood, this tower
was still standing there.
Although it is called "Tetsuto",
it is not made of iron but of lapis lazuli tiles.
It is octagonal in shape and has 13 steps to the top.
Although it was dark,
I came to the Kaifeng City Wall and walked on it.
The current city wall
is the second largest city wall in China,
with a length of 14 km. Construction
of this city wall first
began during the Tang Dynasty, but since then
it has been destroyed many times by the Yellow River’s floods
, and
each time it has been rebuilt higher and higher.
And the city wall we are walking on now
is the one that was last built during the Qing Dynasty.
Henan Province is located in the middle reaches of the Yellow River, and
I learned that this region has always
had an inseparable relationship with the Yellow River
.
There is a
long-standing Chinese saying,
“He who controls the Yellow River controls the world,’
‘ and
the control of the Yellow River was an important issue for the rulers of the time.
This is the castle wall, and
this side is where the city was located within the wall, and
the reason there is a road instead of stairs
is so that horses can come up from below.
The next day, we said goodbye to Aisen and
looked around the city.
Although the roads are wide and well-maintained,
it feels like there are many small shops lined up side by side
, just like in a Japanese shopping district
.
When you enter a narrow street, there are houses at the top and
shops at the bottom.
An oil shop?
The unwrapped xiaolongbao was so delicious that
I finally came to eat it by myself.
The first thing I noticed when I came to this city
was that there were no skyscrapers in sight.
That’s why I was able to ride an electric bike all the time and
see the sights under the blue sky, and
I thought it was a city where
I felt very comfortable.
Certainly, compared to other cities,
I had the impression
that development was a little behind
(no subway system, etc.), but that’s just the reason
for the richness of the people living in this city.
I don’t feel like we were related to each other, and I feel like
I was treated very kindly everywhere I went, and
many people started talking to me
. The most memorable thing for me
was going to see the two towers.
In particular, when I went to see the second "steel tower",
there were people having picnics on the grass around them
while looking at the tower , and
as I was lying down and looking at the tower,
I fell asleep a little. hand.
Before I fell asleep, I was thinking
about why
we are so impressed when we see a
tower
.
And even though I am aware of this, I
will also leave this world someday.
Standing in front of the tower that has stood for nearly a thousand years,
I somehow become aware of this
in my heart.
In such a place,
I thought that people would feel a sense of awe
at the architecture of a Buddhist pagoda
that has stood for such a long time .
good night.
It was an amazing trip.
All the historic places we visited on this trip
are equally important,
whether they are originals,
well-preserved, or
just replicas.
What’s more important,
and I think Fumi would agree with you,
is how you feel. If
you go to a place and
know the background, such as its history,
it can be an even more memorable experience.
I can relate.
In that sense,
I was inspired by fumi.
I’m more of an amateur, and
I think it’s important to know a lot of things.
There are many things we don’t know about
Chinese history and other things
, including
how things originally
existed and
how they came to be what they are today .
This is what I thought about on this trip.
And I am grateful to fumi
for having this opportunity
. It was simply a fun time.
I’m looking forward to my next trip.
Let’s meet again.
Of course, thank you very much.
thank you.
