8년 만에 찾아간 일본 외갓집[Ep.17]
It’s been a really long time here hello I arrived at a place called Fukui, which took about 2 hours from Nagoya. Fukui is a very small city in Japan. From what I heard, it is the 5th least populous city in Japan. But why did I come here? My maternal grandmother’s house is here.
My mother is Japanese, so it’s been a while since I came here. I used to come here once a year until I graduated from college. Because there is vacation when I am a student. I came here once every winter vacation. After getting a job, I couldn’t come because the timing wasn’t right.
And then I came this time. I graduated from university in 2016. Because I graduated in 2016 and have never been back. It’s been almost 7 or 8 years. It’s snowing so much I can’t walk For your information, this is a city where it snows a lot. Let me show you here
Even when I was young, I remember having to sweep the snow in front of my grandmother’s house every day when it was up to my knees. My shoes will all get wet. I think it snows more than in the Shirakawa-go area. Look at the snow on the car It’s sushi
First of all, if i want to go to my grandmother’s house, It takes 30 to 40 minutes on foot. I’ll go on foot to see the neighborhood. It seems difficult to go because of the snow. It’s really hard to see buses here too. Most people here ride compact cars, or students ride bicycles.
The snow is really trash It’s up to my knees A lot came But I guess it’s okay since I’m leaving without contacting my grandparents’ house. My maternal grandmother has dementia and I don’t know if she will remember me. As for my maternal grandfather, he passed away while I was in the military.
As I talk about this, it suddenly comes to mind. I don’t know if that’s still the case now. In the military, if one of your family members dies, you are given leave. Because he was in Japan, they didn’t give me leave to petition.
It was when I was a private first class, and I was really pissed at that time. But even now? So I couldn’t go to my grandfather’s funeral. I’m in big trouble My shoes are all wet How do I get past here?
There’s a shopping mall and department store that I went to a lot in the past (Pario). Let’s go there (Information: There is no Aeon Mall in Fukui) I used to shop here a long time ago. Should I buy boots like these too? If you live in Fukui, boots are a must. Because it’s a town where it snows a lot. Even now, I see a lot of people around me wearing boots. Where I used to play when I was in kindergarten It’s changed a little bit But there are still some things left. I don’t think there was a Daiso here originally. and ‘ToysRus’ I saw a lot here when I was young. There are a lot of toys that look fun. Oh really? (Pretending to understand) This too This too Please separate Lego is expensive Was Lego originally like this? (Quality that looks really good) I think my younger sister liked this (younger sister) I’ll go again that’s right. I’ve been here a lot too I remember this place selling food too.
It’s been a long time since I last saw you (Kamaboko) It’s been a really long time This is called ‘Mutsu’. This is really delicious I don’t know much about fish, so I’m not sure what kind of fish that is (it turns out it’s black cod).
It’s one top. I like it the most, including Korea and Japan. It’s been a long time since I last saw it This is called ‘huruchae’. I mix it with milk and eat it. For kids snacks I also ate a lot when I was young.
There are many other flavors, but I can’t see them. Are they all sold? Delicious. this There really isn’t much left now I should go quickly and get some rest. I want to rest a bit it’s hard. I keep slipping It’s really all over now Is there anyone? I came without contacting them. Is the doorbell broken? I hear a dog barking I can only hear the dog barking Came out x3 Hello (aunt came out) What’s going on? Huh? This is Jiwon / What’s going on? It’s been a long time / It’s been a long time
Did you come by car? Yes, I’m alone… What’s going on? Come in first. Grandma will be surprised hello. Do you know me? Do you know me? long time no see It’s Jiwon. Jiwon! Because it was a long time ago… He’s sister’s son! I can’t remember very well It’s Jiwon! Jiwon!
Jiwon? / yes that’s right Jiwon? / yes yes Oh, is it Jiwon? korea? / yes that’s right! Oh, it’s Jiwon! / Yes, yes, that’s right. I know here yes yes He said he walked from Fukui Station. How old are you now? I’m 33 years old Oh I see / Yes
Yuya is 23 years old (cousin) Is he 23? Oh~ (I haven’t seen you since middle school) hi. Konnichiwa hi It doesn’t bark when it comes to me. Do you become this gentle when you come to me? He barks again, no matter what. hey If you look here, they are also raising birds. hi Is it a parrot? (no) I once had a big dog that looked like this, but he died. The structure has changed a lot.
There was originally a kotatsu in the middle here. There is a kotatsu That was originally on the second floor. Here are daily necessities I’m trying to sleep now Too cold There’s no heater here Even though I’m at home, it’s cold so I’m wearing socks See you next day cold hello Would you like me to warm up the rice? Rice balls? there This one? / there Ah electricity~ Like this, like this, huh? That’s strange That’s right
That’s strange After you finish eating, put it in your bag. ok x6 If you’re hungry, take it out and eat it. thank you (Caring for grandchildren is the same all over the world) It really hurts sick Let me briefly show you the first floor. It’s a bathtub You can take a shower, take a half-body bath, etc. This is a bit old It’s not working. It’s old Wash face here It’s the same This is a warehouse And there is a separate toilet. Ta-da-da
It wasn’t like this in the past, but I think it changed recently. Wash your hands after going to the bathroom And if you look here, the width of the stairs is quite high. When I was very young, I was very afraid of coming down the stairs.
Because the width of the stairs was so high, I remember always holding on to the handrail tightly as I went down because of my fear of heights. I don’t think I’ll be doing anything special in Fukui. I will rest for a bit and then travel to another place.
I’m a bit behind on editing too. I want to film the 2nd and 3rd floors too. It’s a bit awkward to take pictures as it’s a room I share with my cousin and aunt. So I only showed you the first floor, the space we all share. Today’s video will end here. thank you Look at the snow piled up crazy
