Where does this road go? 🇯🇵🚴

I spent three hours exploring the backroads and mountains around Shibata, Miyagi, Japan — riding about 40 km with 900 m of elevation gain.

Along the way, I found beautiful streams, a heron flying through the countryside, an almost-forgotten tunnel, and old forest roads slowly turning into trails.

Road? Forest road? Trail?
Sometimes I honestly couldn’t tell. 😂

I also discovered a mysterious little shrine hidden along the way. I didn’t have enough time to explore it properly this time, so I’ll have to come back.

This is the Japan you don’t usually see.
