滋賀之秋 自転車旅・旧竹林院／Autumn in Shiga: Chikurin-in
自転車で常楽寺まで行き、往復約18キロ走りました。
比叡山のふもとにある大津市坂本は、門前町として古来からおおいに栄えてきました。一帯は国の重要伝統的建造物郡保存地区に選定されています。なかでも里坊は、歴史の街・坂本ならではの町並みをつくっています。里坊は延暦寺の僧侶の隠居所で、今も数多く残されています。旧竹林院は、こうした里坊のひとつで邸内には主屋の南西に約3,300㎡の庭園があります。竹林院内には大津市の文化財に指定されている2棟の伝統的な茶室と庭園で有名です。八王子山を借景にした庭園は、地形をたくみに利用しながら滝組と築山を配し、渓流、石、樹木、苔などで構成され、大自然を表現しています。庭園の景色は四季折々に変化します。
I cycled to the Chikurin-in Temple, a round trip of about 18 kilometers.
Located at the foot of Mount Hiei, Sakamoto in Otsu City has flourished as a temple town since ancient times. The area has been designated a Nationally Important Preservation District for Traditional Buildings. The Satobo (village satobo) in particular create a unique streetscape unique to the historic city of Sakamoto. Satobo were retirement homes for monks of Enryaku-ji Temple, and many remain today. The Chikurin-in is one such satobo, and its grounds include a 3,300-square-meter garden southwest of the main house. Chikurin-in is famous for its two traditional teahouses and gardens, both of which are designated as cultural properties of Otsu City. The garden, which borrows views of Mount Hachioji, skillfully utilizes the terrain to create a waterfall and artificial hills, as well as a stream, stones, trees, and moss, creating a natural landscape. The garden’s scenery changes with the seasons.

位於比叡山腳下的坂本，隸屬於大津市，自古以來就是繁榮的寺廟之都。該地區已被指定為國家級重要傳統建築保存地。其中，裡房（村落式裡房）尤其為這座歷史悠久的城市增添了獨特的街景。裡房曾是延歷寺僧侶的隱居之所，如今仍保留著許多。竹林院舊址便是其中之一，其庭院位於主樓西南側，佔地3,300平方公尺。竹林院以其兩座傳統茶室和庭園而聞名，這兩座茶室和庭園均被指定為大津市文化財產。庭園巧妙地利用地形，遠眺八王子山，營造出瀑布、人工山丘、溪流、石塊、樹木和苔蘚等自然景觀。庭園景色隨季節更迭而變化。
