The Attack on Titan Ultimate Journey | Biking 17 Miles in Hita
November 7th, 2024
Hajime Isayama: The mastermind behind Attack on Titan.
He grew up in a rural area in southern Japan called Hita. The surrounding mountains and rural atmosphere, different from the electric Tokyo experience, cultivated an upbringing of isolation. This environment and curiosity to see the outside world beyond the walls of mountains, inspired Isayama’s creation of Attack on Titan. Visiting this area, was a bucket list item on my list for a long time.
I took a train to from Fukuoka to the Kyushu area of Japan and got off at Hita. I rented a bike and rode 17.4 miles roundtrip from the station to the Attack on Titan in Hita Museum ANNEX, then to the Attack on Titan in Hita Museum, and finally to the Oyama Dam where the Eren, Armin, and Mikasa bronze statues stand.
This journey challenged me to push past physical limits. In the end, it proved to be worth it. Not only proud of myself for navigating this entire journey, but also proud that I was able to pay my respects to this cultural masterpiece.
