ルーマニア実用ガイド | ブカレスト、トランシルヴァニア、そしてその先へ
After two weeks exploring Romania, here’s my complete overview — from practical travel logistics to the most worthwhile places to visit.
This video is designed to help you plan a smoother trip, especially if you’re an independent or slow traveler. I cover everything I wish I’d known before arriving: visa requirements, transportation, safety, healthcare, costs, language barriers, food safety, and what the solo travel vibe actually feels like on the ground.
Then I walk through the highlights of my route, including:
Bucharest
Brașov
Exploring Transylvania
Sibiu
Sighișoara
Timișoara
Hiking sections of the Via Transilvanica
We’ll also talk green space, walking accessibility, running and cycling culture, accommodation styles, payment methods, weather considerations, and of course — Romanian food and drink.
If you’re considering Romania for a short trip, a longer stay, or even part of a slow-travel year in Europe, this should give you a realistic, balanced overview.
This is video 1 of 3 in my Romania series:
1️⃣ A guide to Romania’s cities and major destinations (this video)
2️⃣ Rural villages and the Via Transilvanica https://youtu.be/hJBXVHDcoBU
3️⃣ What my time in Romania actually cost — and whether I could live here full time

Beautiful! After a few years of popularity, Romania sort of dropped off the vlogger map this past year or so. It’s nice to see it’s still a great place to explore
I'm looking forward to the Romania vids.
Love this, thank you! I'm excited to see the other videos in the series.
I'm going to jot the city names down and talk to the kids about them to see what we can fit into my trip there in the fall.
So glad you gave yourself a decent chunk of time to explore and enjoy beautiful Transylvania!
We came to Romania in late fall of 2022 and absolutely fell in love with the country. Coming from North America, we flew into Bucharest and luckily didn't stay there for too long, because that's not where this country shines. For us, that place was definitely Brasov. The town itself is so nice, slow-paced, and has this distinct Transylvanian vibe that we all loved so much. As much as I didn't want to drive there, we had older family members with us on that trip, so we ended up renting a car and going to Bran and Peles Castles, did a separate day trip to Sighisoara (OMG, what a gem!) and a few traditional villages. With only 9 days for the whole trip, we couldn't fit in Sibiu and TImisoara, so I guess we have more reasons to come back. Much like with Serbia, Romania is not a country I would recommend visiting during peak summer months unless you enjoy temperatures above 90F (32C). None of us do haha. For Romania, we'll stick to shoulder seasons.
Excited about this series. I love how you do these European cities. ☀️🇵🇷👍🏽
Love this, excellent information for us since Romania is a potential for us to visit this summer. Loving the architecture in Bucharest! For slow travellers, would you suggest that we split our time in both Bucharest & Brasov or stay put in one city? We are also open to doing day trips from a base city.
Thanks for watching! Subscribe to my free monthly newsletter here: https://thewalkingthomasguide.substack.com/subscribe where I provide some additional insights, tips and information that I can't always cover in a video!
Great information! Romania and Bulgaria are on our list but weren’t able to fit it in this year. Still, we love seeing and hearing info on those countries. Thank you for including food content since that’s always interesting to us. Thank you for sharing this video!
Beautiful old places and information. The hike was great. It does give a different perspective.
Hi! With which company have you arranged your trip from Belgrade to Timisoara?
Citizens of the United States, Canada, Japan, and the Swiss Confederation have access to a special residency pathway, allowing them to obtain Romanian residency without any minimum investment—a unique benefit not available to most other nationalities. We will be more than happy to help and facilitate the process.
