In this video, we discover the spectacular coastline and countryside of Fukui Prefecture, whilst we are based at Wakasa Lakes. We cycle along quiet backroads, through quiet fishing villages, and beautiful countryside. Its a peaceful area, perfect for slow travel, allowing us to experience authentic Japan.
We visit stunning shrines, find incredible thatched boathouses and wholst cycling, #slowdown #beautifuldestinations we have an unexpected encounter with a family of wild Japanese Macaques, enjoying spending privileged time with the monkeys.
This is a rural, beautiful and peaceful area, with wonderful beaches, wildlife and scenery, and the stunning Wakasa Bay cycle route too. An area that we we found hard to leave, and would love to return to, in the future.
