Day 5 – Dogo Onsen & 120km Ride to Matsuyama 🇯🇵| Cycling from Japan to Australia 🚴

Day 5 – 120km to the oldest Onsen in Japan 🚲♨️

Woke up at Ariake-hama Beach and decided to change my plans: instead of a short ride, I pushed myself to cover 120km all the way to Matsuyama. A day full of long miles, mountain climbs, and incredible hospitality.

📍 Route: Ariake-hama Beach – Kawanoe – Saijo – Matsuyama

Highlights of the day:

🐒 History & Nature: Visited Kawanoe Hachiman Shrine and Kawanoe Castle. I even spotted many wild monkeys along the road!

🍱 Meeting Locals: Had lunch at a home-style teishoku restaurant where a kind gentleman invited me to eat yakiniku with him. 🔥

☕ Unexpected Kindness: While climbing toward Matsuyama, I met a couple roasting coffee who invited me into their café and gave me snacks for the road. ❤️

⛩️ Shikoku Pilgrimage: Visited Temples 64, 63, and 61 along the way.

♨️ Dogo Onsen: Finally reached Matsuyama and headed straight to Dogo Onsen, one of the oldest hot springs in Japan. It was EPIC! 🇯🇵✨
