A Whole Train of Recumbent Trikes 🇦🇹 | AZUB 25 Begins

August 31, 2025 — Vienna, Austria.
This was the first official day of riding for the AZUB 25th Anniversary celebration, and what better way to begin than rolling out of Vienna with a huge group of recumbent trikes.

Before the main event in Uherský Brod — the Czech town where AZUB is headquartered — riders gathered for a multi-day pre-party tour, riding together through Austria and into Moravia. Day one took us 65km north from Vienna to Mistelbach, leaving the city behind and slipping into the wide-open countryside.

The route followed sections of the Danube, cutting through rolling farmland filled with corn and sunflowers. At times it felt like a slow-moving, brightly colored cycling train, every trike flying flags and sharing the same destination.

Of course, nothing starts perfectly — I kicked off the ride by showing the impressive bruise I earned from a fall the night before. But once rolling, spirits were high, legs were fresh, and the joy of riding together took over.

This episode captures the feeling of group touring on recumbent trikes: relaxed, social, scenic, and surprisingly efficient. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to tour Europe by trike — or why AZUB riders are so passionate — this is where the story begins.
