This video documents a bicycle ride through the Hongo District, a mountainous region in the southeastern part of Fukui City. The Hongo District is a naturally rich Satoyama (traditional rural landscape) located deep in the mountains, isolated from the city center. The route traverses the roads connecting the quiet, scattered villages of Shimizudaira, Nekoze, and Higashidaira.

Shimizudaira is a historically significant village sometimes associated with local legends of the Heike clan refugees. This entire region is characterized by terraced rice paddies built on steep slopes and abundant, deep forests, preserving a classic Japanese landscape.
