Today we will visit the Gold Coast in Hong Kong The Flea market in Gold Coast Piazza and the Golden Beach And some other beaches And finally, a famous seafood market in Sam Shing Route: Tuen Mun Station – So Kwun Wat – Gold Coast – Some other beaches – Sam Shing Seafood Market – Tuen Mun Station Total 17.4 km +/- 281m Let’s go We start at Tuen Mun Station Then go to Exit B Exit B is a light rail terminal Take the lift to ground floor We go this way The Tuen Mun – Ma On Shan line is extending to south Tuen Mun This path should be for cycles only now But most people think otherwise So please beware of pedestrians I stopped because this playground is so tall I need to take a look Looks fun to me Then we go straight and we will see the Tuen Mun Swimming Pool We are now at Tuen Mun South; this building is so new. Bus parking lot on the left And we will cross this road Some final sections of cycling path Then we need to cycle on the road We will visit this seafood market later in this video This area has many new buildings too I will bring you to visit a newly developed residential area shortly. We are now in So Kwun Wat The newly developed residential area I mentioned. Some of the buildings are not completed yet So Kwun Wat Village preserves traditional Hakka culture and rural lifestyle, Despite progressive residential and infrastructure development in the surrounding region the surrounding land has been used for newer development and infrastructure Compared to the rate of residential expansion there is a shortage of nearby retail shops, recreational spaces, and community amenities, causing inconvenience By my observation, there is no public park or a single convenience store here. Although it seems there is plenty of space behind the gates of these private properties. They don’t lack schools though. It is a quiet place to live While it is very close to a famous attraction in Hong Kong The Gold Coast Let’s go there and take a look now. Now we are in Gold Coast Piazza We will walk a bit from here Gold Coast Piazza is a Mediterranean-style seafront leisure and shopping complex Contrary to So Kwun Wat, there are convenience stores here. and a range of international and local eateries, including waterfront dining options, bars, and coffee shops And even a Sunday flea market Depending on your departure time, you may plan for a meal here. Or just grab one local beer Or local dessert from a master in Lantau Island. You can definitely spend some time here But now, let’s move on to see this big yacht And now we see the Gold Coast Hotel too Let’s walk to the Gold Coast Hotel Some more restaurants on this side Where you can enjoy a beautiful sunset view What is this? A pod? A dome? It seems to be an outdoor-indoor dining area Or outer space area? I think we can have these on Mars in the future There is a hidden walkway connecting Gold Coast hotel and Gold Coast Piazza Here we are, Gold Coast Hotel We can ride a bit to the next attraction And then walk our bike again This is Gold Coast Beach (Golden Beach) It is a signature sandy public beach in Tuen Mun, renowned for its wide stretch of golden sand and safe, clean swimming waters The beach is designed in harmony with the surrounding Mediterranean-style architecture for a resort-like environment Golden Beach is directly connected to two other beaches: Cafeteria New Beach and Cafeteria Old Beach Golden Beach: The main signature beach at the Gold Coast, with artificial golden sands and full facilities Cafeteria New Beach: Adjacent to Golden Beach, offers additional space and beach amenities; accessible by walking along the shore There is space for beach volleyball walking swimming dancing karaoke kayaking It is free water again (drinking fountain) We walked from Golden Beach to Kadoorie Beach Then we will ride to the next stop Beware of traffic We pass one more beach, the Castle Peak Beach, while riding Then we turn left to Sam Shing Hui (aka Sam Shing Market) Sam Shing Market, also known as Sam Shing Hui Seafood Market It is renowned for its freshly caught seafood sourced daily from nearby waters Restaurants surrounding the market offer a “cook-to-order” service, providing popular Cantonese-style seafood dishes Castle Peak Bay Waterfront Promenade is an 800-meter long promenade built on the breakwater On top of the breakwater, we can see the beaches we have walked through today And we can see the Hong Kong Gold Coast Hotel from another angle On the other side of the breakwater, we can see the Tuen Mun Pier It’s time to go back to Tuen Mun Station If you are not fond of seafood, you may go inside here to a traditional “大排檔” (dai pai dong) They serve affordable, cooked-to-order Cantonese and Hong Kong-style meals This Tuen Mun River is a popular parking area for boats. We are back to Tuen Mun Park And finally we arrived to where we started. Just follow the sign back to platform After talking so much about seafood I am hungry now These buns look good and taste as good as they look. Thanks for watching
