Exploring Tokyo by Bike | Shimokitazawa + Cat Temple + Matcha Ice Cream

Hey guys it’s me again 🙂
today we are going for a soft ride exploring the surroundings of my neighborhood here in Tokyo
I feel like many people who visit Tokyo don’t get a true perspective
of what everyday life is really like here today my goal is to show a bit of how life
in Tokyo can be calm meaningful and simple We are at Setagaya Park now and
one thing you must do if you’re in Japan during spring is having a picnic under a tree
It’s such a nice atmosphere Lots of families relaxing having
a good meal and enjoying their time have you guys tried matcha ice cream yet ?
If not I truly recommend it Now we are heading to one of
my favorite temples in Tokyo It’s called Gotokuji Temple
the birthplace of Maneki Neko The traditional Japanese cat is
a symbol of prosperity and good luck here you can buy one and offer it for blessings
It’s crazy to see how many cats in one place but also beautiful to see
how respectful and peaceful the atmosphere is You will often find some elderly people sitting around painting scenes from
the temple
It’s such a serene vibe I feel like this temple is still so well preserved because it’s kind
of hidden from the usual tourist routes It’s a must see if you’re in the area On the ride back home I passed a line of people
standing in front of a simple restaurant and it caught my attention I don’t know if you guys know
this but if there’s a line outside a restaurant in Japan it’s usually a sign the food is worth the wait
as I got closer I couldn’t resist the smell of freshly baked bread
I had to line up and try a bun for the first time Okay so I was riding my bike and I found this
cute little place where they sell buns and I couldn’t resist because it was smelling so good
so it’s my first time trying buns and I’m sure it’s going to be delicious I had to wait at least
half an hour at the line to try but let’s try together I chose two flavours: the first one is
a spicy meat and the second one is a red bean paste and I’m feeling like eating something sweet
so I think this red bean paste suits perfectly the moment
So they are really cute and tiny and super super warm this is so good so tasty sometimes all we need is a
simple ride to enjoy the little moments in life hope to see you soon

Sometimes, the best way to experience Tokyo isn’t in crowded tourist spots,it’s on a slow bike ride through local neighborhoods.

Join me as I explore Shimokitazawa, a charming area in Setagaya Ward, and visit the famous Gotokuji Temple (aka the Cat Temple), where thousands of maneki-neko statues bring good luck.

Plus, a stop for the best Bun in Town! 🍵🚴‍♂️

  1. the Nikuman looked so tasty 😍Your videos have such a great vibe, btw 🙂 I would have never dared to ride a bike in Tokyo when i lived there 20 years ago (I get confused easily by traffic and people on streets) but it is such a great way of exploring a place, all the streets and buildings.
