【長野】寝覚の床と牧尾ダム~霧の世界へ~【400X】

Alright, finally— I’ve made it all the way here from Osaka. I just got off at the Nakatsugawa Interchange. Is this Gifu Prefecture? Or maybe Nagano? Anyway, from here— I’m planning to ride through Nagano Prefecture on local roads. It’s pretty far after all. The weather’s unfortunately cloudy today. I got caught in some rain along the way, too. But since there’s a typhoon coming, this is actually not too bad, I’d say. At the start of the trip, my seat bag broke— the strap that secures it snapped off. So this time, I came without the seat bag. Temperature’s nice—not too hot, not too cold, just right. It’s a holiday, so there’ll probably be crowds. Hopefully, I can see some good scenery. Last time I came, the weather wasn’t great either. Back then I stayed a night around Iida. First, I stayed in the south— and then the next day I rode north. That’s the plan again. Now it’s turning into a scenic route. Looks like there’s a roadside station ahead—maybe I’ll stop by. I wonder if the leaves have started changing colors yet? Maybe a little later. Still Gifu? Not Nagano yet? The air feels really fresh here. Totally different from Osaka. Lots of motorcycles out—it’s October, after all. Shizumo Bridge. Nice—surrounded by mountains. Now entering Nagano Prefecture. We’re in Nagiso now. Beautiful road. Feels so open here. You can’t cover Nagano in just one night—impossible. It’s such a huge prefecture. It takes a long time to reach the northern areas. Ah, it’s cool out here. 21 degrees. Just dropped to around 21°C. Entering Okuwa Village. A big group of bikers. Wow, what a beautiful river. Nagano is so spacious. Alright, almost there. About 2 km until the turnoff—almost at the destination. Arriving soon. I’m heading to a place called Nezame-no-toko. Nezame-no-toko. Is that rain starting? Looks like it. Well, I’m almost there, so it’s fine. Just started raining. This way. Here it is—no signs at all though. Is this it? Walked five minutes through the forest, fearing bears. There are some guide signs, so that’s reassuring. I can see it! This is Nezame-no-toko. Let’s get a little closer. Ah, I see now. Heading back. Alright, let’s go. Nezame-no-toko— the scenery was pretty spectacular. Right now though, I really need to find a restroom. I need a convenience store bathroom. There’s one nearby—good. Maybe I’ll go check out a dam next. Weather’s not looking great, though. Kinda feel hesitant to go too deep into the mountains. Still, Nezame-no-toko was awesome. The ground was muddy— and it turned rocky at the end. You really need sturdy shoes—otherwise it’s dangerous. But even without going onto the rocks, you can enjoy the view just fine. Not totally sure if I parked in the right place though. It seemed connected to an art museum. Might be nice to visit that too. I did see a “Beware of Bears” sign while walking—scared me a bit. Yeah, I was a little nervous. Next stop—the dam. Might as well check it out while I’m here. Not that I know much about dams, but still. They’re just kind of fascinating. It’s only drizzling for now. Not dangerous or anything yet. Altitude: 723 meters. Quite cool up here. Partly because of the rain— feels chilly. Rain gear is essential. Another roadside station on the left. Might stop there too. Quite foggy out now. Wow—temperature’s 18 degrees! No wonder it’s cool. Now entering Kiso Town. The fog is really thick. Where do I park the bike? Maybe… here? Beep! (Accidentally honked the horn) Alright, let’s go. Heading toward the dam. I couldn’t resist—I had a miso katsu rice bowl earlier. You can usually see Mt. Ontake from here, but not today. Still, that was great. Feeling refreshed—both body and mind. Turn left here. Heading toward Makio Dam. It’s getting late, so after the dam I’ll probably head to the hotel. Another roadside station—there are so many around here! There really are a lot. Nice little townscape. Such a peaceful place. Michi-no-Eki Mitake. Pretty big one. Looks nice. Apparently there’s a ropeway too. The Ontake Ropeway. Can’t go today, though. Seems to be closed. The dam area might be really foggy. Hope it’s okay. Such a great atmosphere here. Almost there. Getting close to arrival. Should be reaching the dam soon. They’re running a drone school here. Big sign for it too. Makio Dam. Arriving soon. Here it is. Open until 5 p.m. No camping allowed. Let’s park around here. Looks like the dam cards aren’t available here on holidays. The fog looks really nice. Isn’t this misty look great? It’s getting thicker now. Alright, let’s head to the hotel. I’ll take it easy today— 00:11:49,892 –> 00:11:51,877
Tomorrow and the next day— the weather should be much better. So I think I’ll be able to see and explore a lot more than today. The fog isn’t too thick— it’s actually kind of nice. Though it does make the temperature feel cooler. The view of the bridge from the dam is amazing— the fog gives it a perfect mood. So beautiful. Now I’m on a really scenic route. By the way, I heard this area is around 800 meters in elevation. Wow, didn’t even notice we climbed that high. We’re definitely up in the mountains now. Still climbing, I think. It’s 16°C now—dropping fast! Grip heater on! So foggy now. Wow, look at that. Welcome to the world of fog. Just entered Ina City. Can’t see a thing. Just going straight from here. Almost there. Looks like I’m about to reach the hotel. Didn’t expect it to be in a place like this. Wow, it’s huge. This place is called Komagane. I’ll be staying here tonight. Just for one night. Looks like the hotel’s along this road. Where is it? Oh, it’s a Route Inn. Ah, there it is—Route Inn. Thanks for watching!
