Asahikawa Monbetsu Road Roadside Station Shirataki From now on, a little inland from the Sea of Okhotsk Located in Engaru Town I’m heading to a certain place, Not listed in this tourist guide The location is around the red arrow Away from JR Sekihoku Line In the mountains of Engaru Running Today’s destination is Found on Google Maps It’s called Hokkaido Home School. “Home school” is a strange name Administratively, it is a child independence support facility. We passed through the mountain roads and entered the rural area. It is a child independence support facility, Compared to juvenile prisons under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice Might be good Juvenile detention centers The aim is to support social reintegration through correctional education. 14 to under 26 years old A facility for compulsory detention of those who have committed serious delinquencies The decision to admit a child is based on protective measures taken by the family court. On the other hand, child independence support facilities are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. The purpose is to provide welfare support through guidance. There is a risk of delinquency for those under 18 years of age Also, things that show problematic behavior for reasons such as family Admission with parental consent It differs from juvenile prisons in that it is an open facility. Admission is usually through administrative measures by child consultation centers. If parental abuse occurs Entered as a protective measure by the family court We arrived at our destination, Hokkaido Home School. At the end of a neat flower bed There was a simple home school nameplate. Something on the sign on the left… I called the day before and got permission to visit, It seems we are going to head to the headquarters building first. The headquarters is 800 meters away. Let me accept the reception On the right is Koyo Dormitory There are five pseudo-family dormitories run by dorm leaders and dorm mothers. The road stretches far into the distance Home schools are rare as child independence support facilities. Private facilities On the left, in the meadow Wow, there were cows grazing There seems to be a butter and cheese factory too. It’s already a city A site of great scale 439ha (93 Tokyo Domes) Be careful of pedestrians… Because it’s a place where students spend time This is also a dormitory (Rakuzan dormitory) Is this it? The directions say it’s the main building. Turn left at this It’s going uphill Is that it? (300m ahead, your destination is on the left) No, it’s a little further ahead This seems to be the cafeteria There is something like staff housing. The road is narrow so go slowly There are buildings on the left and right Ah, that’s the headquarters in front. To the left of here is the Retro Building Museum. The museum has a nice emo font… (Your destination is on the left, thank you for your efforts) Arriving at the headquarters building Unique style building Drive the car further in Park in front of the gym Founded by Tomeoka Kosuke in 1914 Reception at the main building As a note of caution, Photography of people is not permitted on campus Photography of the building exterior is permitted It is OK to enter the chapel and take photos inside. There’s one more thing to note. Inside the school Apparently brown bears are in the area… From here in the headquarters building Going further, near the summit I’m heading to the chapel I got a map at the headquarters. Photography is allowed so we headed to the chapel. Um, I’m going to move to the parking lot of the chapel. On the left is the athletic field Is this the way? There was a sign for the chapel. Under the headquarters building There was an old museum… The one on the left is the new museum. It seems that you can’t enter without a guide (reservation required), I would like to see it off today. On the left, there is a thin rope stretched along the road. Ah, this is it We arrived at the parking lot in front of the church. This seems to also be a space for chopping firewood (perhaps by children?). Looking back, I saw a brown bear warning flag on an electric fence. Replying to @KimJungkookie Now, I would like to go to the chapel in the back. Hill of Hope Study with hope, To be a good person The founder, Tomeoka Kosuke It’s the Hill of Lessons That was the Taisho era The chapel was built in 1919. Oh~ this is It has a unique, dignified quality. On a black wall With red roof Brown stone is used That seems to be Okhotsk soft stone. There’s a squirrel (white circle) It’s a mysterious and divine place Well, not just squirrels. There are also brown bears (there was droppings on the ground) View of the chapel from the front… That’s amazing…. ah… Would you say it’s a perfect composition? On the mossy ground Autumn leaves on the background The chapel makes a huge impact A nice nameplate The main building said we could go in. Is it open? It’s open! Put it in I guess you have to take your shoes off here The sliding doors give a sense of the era There is a place to put geta sandals Do you have Sunday services or something? Not these stairs This is the door. Oh… Unlike the exterior, the worship space has a bright and warm impression. On the stage, “well-mannered” This photo must be of the guru, Tomioka-san. Light wood ceiling It says that through sweat one can realize the path. There was a slogan at the entrance: “Ryukan Godo” It is designated as a tangible cultural property of Hokkaido. Unlike the Gothic exterior, the interior has a warm atmosphere On the other hand, there is also a solemn atmosphere. There’s not a speck of dust on the floor This is where they sing hymns and stuff. Song of Blessing I don’t have any religious beliefs, This unique worldview is fascinating. I sat down in the last seat, I think about the situation of the boy who came here. Many of the boys who lost their place at home I don’t think I’m a Christian, What do you think about this church? In the frozen mountains of the Okhotsk region in winter Even though I’m in the playful stage of adolescence Every day, he worked in dairy farming, chopped firewood, and studied again and again. However, most child independence support facilities It remains a national institution. This private Hokkaido home school was established Considering its history of over 100 years Many boys, when they leave here, I think they left here with a smile on their face… Please subscribe to our channel
