Hello friends, this is Qinghe. We are currently in Chengbu County, Shaoyang City, preparing to embark on our annual fishing trip. This trip was rather rushed, so we’ll start by finding a small river around the county town to fish. It feels like it’s been almost half a month since we last fished. Okay, we’ve replenished our supplies and are ready to leave the county town to find a fishing spot. We’re setting off quite early today , it’s only a little past 10 am, the sun has just risen, and we’ll soon be entering Nanshan National Park from here. It’s quite cold in the shady areas, a bit chilly to the touch. This is the Wushui River. We’ll be finding a spot to fish on this river. There have been quite a few anglers along the way , and today’s temperature has dropped significantly, so I think it should be a good fishing day. There’s a mountain spring here… First, let me add that it’s not too bad, there aren’t too many impurities . It feels much colder this year than last year. Driving in this shady area is a bit freezing. We need to head south as soon as possible . The rest of the journey is probably towards Guangdong, then along the coast towards Guangxi and Yunnan. We’ll walk downstream along this river to see where there are suitable places to park. These cars probably belong to anglers. We’re about to enter a small road. We probably won’t go much further now. From the satellite map, there’s a wasteland. This is the place I originally planned to explore. Since we’re already here, let’s go in and take a look. There are so many beggar-ticks! There are still two or three hundred meters left , but the road is getting increasingly difficult, and I’m starting to feel like giving up. This is deep in the mountains; even a person couldn’t make it through here. Maybe I should just take a few more steps and check it out. It’s possible to walk through this kind of terrain , but it doesn’t seem worth it. If the fishing isn’t good, it would be a huge loss. Looking at the river outside , it’s quite beautiful, but there are many nets caught on the surface —those water bottles ! A really long net stretches from top to bottom, and the whole area is overgrown with grass. And then there are nets on the river surface. Maybe I should just go fishing outside . I’m about to head out to see if I should find a spot along the way or just change locations. Well, friends, I’m thinking of leaving this place. I haven’t been in a good mood these past few days. Let me adjust for a couple of days , or maybe we can stop again once we find a satisfactory spot . Now I’m heading towards Wu… Let’s head towards Gang. There are a few marked locations to explore. It’s 3:20 PM now. We’ll arrive in Wugang City and then continue onward. It’s 4:40 PM now, time to find a campsite. Finding a campsite has been the most difficult part of this entire cycling trip, especially in the south, it’s really hard to find one. It’s 5:48 PM now. I see a prefab house here . This location is alright. Sigh, I can’t look any further , it’ll get dark soon. But this seems to be a funeral supply store; there are so many candles, wreaths , and paper money. Can this door be opened? There’s a bed board here , that’s alright , at least there’s a place to stay. There’s some miscellaneous stuff piled up here. Hmm, this is it. Good morning, friends. It’s 9:30 AM now. Time to get up and start a new day. OK? Friends, it’s already 10:30 AM. We’ve been packing for almost an hour and are ready to go. Let’s find something to eat first, and then we plan to explore two wilderness reservoirs today . It’s a bit cold, a bit cold. For the next two or three days, there’s been a continuous drop in temperature. A cold wave has passed, and the sky is overcast now. Luckily, the forecast didn’t predict rain. It’ll be cloudy for today and tomorrow, and then it’ll be sunny all the time. As long as it doesn’t rain, it’s fine. There’s a town ahead; let’s go get some breakfast. Ah, it’s almost lunchtime. Okay. Friends, let’s slowly walk along this village road into the mountains. Is this an irrigation canal? There’s still a long stretch of unpaved road behind Guishan Village. What if it rains and we can’t get out ? The village below is shrouded in mist; I don’t know if it’s smog or fog. There’s a road leading into the mountains, and quite a few cars are on it. I wonder if fishing is allowed at that reservoir? Let’s take a look. Hmm, we go in from here and then down from here. There’s another reservoir. We ‘ll go this way first . Oh, there’s a house here too. Let’s take a look. What if it rains and we can camp here ? This looks like a toilet. Are they going to develop this area into a tourist attraction? No way, the ground is covered in cow dung. Ugh, never mind, I won’t look anymore. This side is a little cleaner , but it looks like it’s about to collapse. The beams are already… well, a bit rotten. Sigh, never mind, let’s go inside and check out the reservoir. There’s a building here, the reservoir management office. Where’s the water? Oh, just a little bit, just a little bit left. No water. Sigh, let’s go down and take a look. It seems like we can see the bottom. Wow, it ‘s so shallow . Oh no, we can’t play here. The water is clean. Let’s go, let’s go. Uh, there’s another reservoir down there. Please, please, if there’s water in this reservoir, it would be a perfect spot for fishing, especially since there are buildings here where we can stay. It seems like no one comes here. This kind of place is the most dangerous when it rains. The ground is covered in moss. If it rains, we can’t get out at all. This spot seems like we can’t go down. The slope is too steep. Let’s go down and take a look. It seems like there’s no water. Oh, there’s water. There’s water. We can see a little bit of water . That’s okay, at least there’s still some water. We’ve finally arrived . Let’s take a look at the situation of this reservoir. It doesn’t seem very deep , and it looks like the water is receding. I wonder if there are any fish? Let’s go to the other side and see which side is better for fishing. It seems to be deeper here , but the bottom is full of dead branches , which hides fish but also makes them more prone to snagging. On the other side , there’s that big rock, which is a bit deeper, so we can’t get across from here. We haven’t seen any fish activity along the way. Oh well, maybe there aren’t any fish. Oh well, let’s fish on the other side first. It’s not easy to get across from here. If we don’t get any bites there , we’ll switch over. Just as we were about to start casting to test the water depth and find a good spot , we met the reservoir patrolman . We chatted for a bit, and he said there are even crucian carp in here… There weren’t any carp, only some small minnows , and it was quite dangerous here, so I told them not to fish here. Since they said that , we should respect their work and find another spot. Anyway, we can fish anywhere, no need to argue with them . Sigh, let’s pack up, it’s almost one o’clock now. Sigh, let’s find a river to fish in, let’s find a small river . We’re at the riverbank, friends. This is the Fuyi River, but the wind is too strong today. We looked at several spots, but none of them were very satisfactory. The wind is howling, today is really unlucky. Friends, we’ve found a campsite , let’s rest for a couple of days and wait for better weather. This looks like a small warehouse, okay, this is fine. Friends, the campsite is almost ready, time to start cooking! Let’s cook some rice tonight. We’ve been eating noodles or rice noodles for the past two days. This time I brought a wood-fired stove, let’s try it out. It’s a mini one, I haven’t used a single pot like this in a long time, so I have to be careful, otherwise it’s easy to burn the rice. Looks like it’s a failure, a bit burnt, a burnt smell. Now I’ve switched to this gas stove, turned the heat down, let’s see if I can salvage it. If not, I’ll have to make instant noodles.
