“何もしないをする” 極上の大人の休日を過ごすツーリングへ出かけた|DUCATI Scrambler1100 TributePro|【山梨の隠れた温泉宿】南部町 船山温泉
Visiting a tiny, secluded hot spring inn in the middle of the mountains, all by myself. Doing absolutely nothing. That kind of time is the best. Yep, let’s hit the onsen! Before I knew it, a patch of blue sky was peeking through. Since it cleared up, I decided to hang my rain gear out to dry. Doesn’t look like much more rain ahead. Alright, today I’m off to stay at a hot spring inn. It’s going to be a 2-day, 1-night onsen retreat. oday, I’ll enjoy a relaxing ride to the hot spring inn, making a few stops along the way. I’ve arrived in Minamikoma District, Yamanashi Prefecture. The weather’s been kind — I seem to be dodging the rain clouds, and it feels great! Riding along Route 52 with the Fuji River in view. The lovely, open scenery just keeps going. The national highway through the mountains is a fun, great winding road. It’s gotten super sunny! Looks like the weather’s going to be nice from now on. 10 minutes later… Wait… The rain is absolutely insane! After it looked like it was going to be sunny, this happens. Ugh. Alright, I’ve arrived at my first stop, Minobusan Kuonji Temple. It’s raining a bit, but I think temples look good in the rain. It’s empty because of the rain. There are a few parking lots for Kuonji, but I decided to park in the most brutal one today. So, I’m here! The rain is heavy. Minobusan Kuonji Temple. These stairs are called the Bodai-tei (Bodhi Ladder). They have a height difference of 104m, with 287 steps. There are several ways to climb up to the main grounds, but it’s said that if you climb all 287 steps of the Bodai-tei, you’ll reach Nirvana. I decided to take on this stone step challenge today to reach Nirvana. In case you don’t know, Nirvana is… “A state of perfect fulfillment and peace, free from all worry and constraint. The state of enlightenment attained by a Buddha, considered the ideal in Buddhism.” Basically, if I make it to the top, I’ll be enlightened (lol). Seriously, the height of each step on this staircase is ridiculous. I’ve done lots of stair challenges, but this is the craziest by far. Can you even tell… how steep this is…? 10 minutes later… I finally made it to the land of Nirvana! You can take a ropeway up the mountain, but with this weather… nah. So, sadly, this is where I’ll stop for today. Whoa, this is… more terrifying going down than going up. The moss looks super slippery! Damn it! (I should have reached Nirvana…) Hello there. Be careful; going down is scarier than going up. Take care! I seriously respect how energetic the older folks are. Since the weather is like this, I think I’ll head straight to the hot spring. The onsen inn I’m staying at today is in Nanbu Town, Minamikoma District, Yamanashi Prefecture. Nanbu Town is on the border with Shizuoka Prefecture, the southernmost town in Yamanashi. Funayama Onsen, nestled deep in the mountains of Nanbu Town, is my destination today. Funayama Onsen has a check-in time of 1 PM, which is awesome on a day like this. Since I have about an hour until check-in, I decided to grab lunch at a roadside station. Nanbu Town is famous for Japanese tea, so I’m having tea soba. And the pickles are free—sweet! Time to eat! I can’t really taste the tea much, but the soba is super delicious. A light lunch like this is perfect, so I don’t spoil my dinner at the inn. It got sunny again while I was eating lunch! The weather is so weird today. Alright, heading to tonight’s accommodation, Funayama Onsen. Funayama Onsen is a historic hot spring resort founded in 1892, a well-established inn cherished for over 100 years. Since I was invited this time, I’d like to take it easy and relax. Am I even on the right road? Ah, here it is! I’ve arrived at Funayama Onsen. Where should I park the bike…? I’ll just put it in the parking lot for now. The bike wasn’t supposed to go here. Thanks for helping me push and pull it! So, I got to park the bike in a nice spot with a roof. Nanbu Town, Funayama Onsen. A tiny, secluded hot spring inn in the mountains. Relaxing, chilling out, and “doing nothing.” The entire building is covered in tatami mats. A comfy space where you can walk around barefoot. The ultimate hot spring where you can enjoy both private baths and a public bath. Alright, let’s head to my room for tonight. My room is number 213. So, this is my room for today. It’s super spacious! Looks like I’ll be really comfortable here. The autumn leaves time is beautiful too. I’m happy they have a *samue* (casual kimono-like wear)! I plan on taking it easy here today. Time for a bath right away! The private bath was open. The water quality is simple sulfur cold spring. Opening the window lets in a nice, refreshing breeze. It’s great for the skin, and I’m tired from those Kuonji stairs… I ended up soaking for a long time (lol). The view outside is as beautiful as a painting. I had some time before dinner, so I took a walk in the garden. Dinner time—finally! It’s rare for me, but I haven’t had a beer yet today (lol). I was saving it for dinner. A staff member will be with you shortly. Thank you. I’ll bring your draft beer right away. Original dishes using ingredients from the mountains and rivers, featuring local Yamanashi produce. Let’s eat! The aperitif is homemade plum wine. The sashimi is Japanese char and Wasabi greens. This is a trout called Fujinosuke. The appetizer is Wine Trout and white dressing with persimmon and Shine Muscat grapes. This is a thick sauce dish with Maitake mushrooms, okra, and Ebi-imo taro. The chawanmushi (savory egg custard) has Hiratake and Maitake mushrooms, and gingko nuts. Sashimi of river fish—you don’t get to eat this often. I savored every bite. You can check in at 1 PM, and check out at 11 AM. How amazing does it feel to spend those 22 hours just for yourself? Resting your body and mind. I’d forgotten how important it is to just rest. It’s your first time having wild boar, right? It is. Let’s eat! Enjoying the fat. Isn’t it surprisingly light? It’s not heavy. Not greasy at all. Delicious. The wild boar we source… is basically sourced from mountains where acorns grow. The food and drinks keep coming. A happy time packed with Yamanashi’s ingredients. I am “doing nothing.” Wow, what a luxurious day. I bet I’ll sleep well tonight. Well, everyone, see you tomorrow! Good night. Day 2. Good morning. I wanted to go to the outdoor bath, but it’s been occupied, so I came back to the indoor bath. Apparently, there are a lot of regulars, which shows how popular it is. It’s a beautiful day today. The welcome drink is available 24/7. I’m having a morning coffee. It’s great that I can grab a drink early in the morning. What a refreshing morning. Breakfast time! Today’s grilled fish is overnight-dried Amago trout. And this is sweet-simmered small ayu (sweetfish). Time to eat! Wow, the miso soup is too good! I’m a Japanese food person in the morning, so I love inn breakfasts. I wish I could eat a breakfast like this every day (lol). Freshly made tofu and yuba (tofu skin). How incredibly luxurious… So good! The broth I’m eating it with is also super tasty. I have the most intense muscle soreness. It hurts so bad! It was definitely Kuonji Temple!!! There’s a “Legs” button, isn’t there? Check-out is at 11 AM, so I can still enjoy a relaxing tea after breakfast. Thank you for everything. *I’ve already moved my luggage.* I really got to chill out here. Hot springs are the best, seriously. And so, my hot spring ride ended with me enjoying doing absolutely nothing. Bonus clip! Even though the weather is this nice, something urgent came up, so I had to rush back home. Quick stop before heading home. My first-ever “KUSHITANI CAFE.” But seriously… Isn’t this… hard to eat? (lol) My thumb is in agony, LOL. It tastes amazing, but come on! 😂 Checking out souvenirs. I’ll get this. It’s a bummer when the weather is this good, but I’m heading straight home today without any detours. So, this trip is now over. Nanbu Town was a great spot, so you should definitely go check it out! Nanbu Town was a great spot, so you should definitely go check it out! See you all in the next video! Bye-bye! Thanks for holding down the fort today, too.

12:22 a perfect place to pause for the workday. I will enjoy the rest of this excellent journey after my shift tonight.
