江戸城🌸桜サイクリング🚲外堀・内堀・北の丸【東京ライドビュー03】2025桜

This time, we’re in Tokyo during cherry blossom season. Cherry trees along Edo Castle’s outer moat glow under the blue sky. The harmony of water, sakura, and trains creates one of Tokyo’s most beautiful spring scenes. Along Yasukuni Street lies Kitanomaru Park. The sakura of Chidorigafuchi, hanging over the water, are among Japan’s most famous sights. We weave through the crowd of hanami visitors toward the walking path in Kitanomaru Park. Riding through a forest in the city, we see cherry blossoms blooming across the moat. Gliding briskly under the clear spring sky. Tokyo Ride View, Episode 3 — begins now. We’re now at the site of Edo Castle’s Ushigome Gate, overlooking JR Iidabashi Station. Just beyond the platforms stretches the moat, lined with cherry trees. Today’s ride starts on the opposite side of the moat, from the foot of Kagurazaka. Our first viewing spot today is Shinmitsuke Bridge. Here you can enjoy the view of the moat, the trains passing by, and the cherry blossoms. Shinmitsuke Bridge was built in the Meiji era. It connected Ushigome Ward (now Shinjuku) with Kojimachi Ward (now Chiyoda). The scene of trains passing under the bridge is picture-perfect. Between Iidabashi and Ichigaya, cherry trees line the outer moat in full bloom. It must be a great view from the open-top bus, too. I planned to go straight along Yasukuni Street, but let’s take a detour to the Chiyoda side by the moat. Between this road and the moat lies Sotobori Park. It’s a wonderful cherry blossom path that continues all the way to Iidabashi. Bicycles aren’t allowed inside, so we’ll ride along the road instead. Even from here, the view of the blossoms is beautiful. Sotobori Park is full of people enjoying hanami today. It’s about 1.2 kilometers from Ichigaya to Iidabashi. Perfect for a slow, relaxing walk. We’ve arrived at Sakura Terrace in front of JR Iidabashi Station. Beyond these cherry trees stands the stone wall of Edo Castle’s Ushigome Gate. That’s where we started today’s ride. Now, let’s head back toward Ichigaya Station. We’re back on Yasukuni Street. The cherry-lined avenue continues all the way up Kudanzaka Hill. We’ve reached Kitanomaru Park, near Tayasumon Gate. The cherry blossoms of Chidorigafuchi are breathtaking. It’s Saturday, so the area is packed with hanami visitors. Let’s ride carefully and make our way deeper inside. Hey, do you hear that bird singing? Ah, that’s a Japanese bush warbler. Let’s stop for a moment and listen. I didn’t expect to hear a bush warbler in the middle of Tokyo. That’s Kitanomaru Park for you — part of the Imperial Palace grounds. So much nature here. All right, that’s it for Kitanomaru Park.
