1926 [Camping] [4K] 2025 Camping Event! Introducing AROUND THE KASUMIGAURA in Tsuchiura, Ibaraki Prefecture. Starting at ¥2,000. I’m going to the 2025 event. The location is Tsuchiura, Ibaraki Prefecture. It’s AROUND THE KASUMIGAURA. ■Event Basic Information View Google Maps. The event was held October 11-12. Reservations can be made on the website. The event’s unique feature is cycling and camping. Free riding is available from JR Iwase Station. Participants are welcome on any bicycle. Accommodation is available at Rinrin Port. Overnight camping is available. Accommodation rates start at ¥2,000. Hours are 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM the following day. Admission to the venue is free for day visitors. Brand and shop exhibits will be available. The site has grass. You can make a bonfire using the fire pit. You will need to use a campfire mat and take it home with you. Park your vehicle in the parking lot. There is no AC power on the site. There are toilets, but no cooking facilities. There are no baths, but showers are available. It is generally recommended that you take your trash with you. This is a special rule for events. Details will be confirmed on site. ■ Heading to the event venue We’re now approaching the event venue. There are many people fishing on the riverbank. We’re driving towards Tsuchiura Port. There are boats and ships parked on the right. We’ll curve left and head back. Just when you think we’re going left, we’ll turn right. This is a view you can only see by bicycle. It would be nice to have a place to park your car. You can see many more boats. We continue around the port. There are many more boats lined up on this side as well. We’ll circle around and keep to the left. We’ll take a different path from the road. There’s a beautiful painting on the wall. We’ve reached the cycling road. There’s a dock for the sightseeing boat. The event venue is coming into view. ■Check the campsite The campsite is in the foreground. You can see tents at the back of the plaza. This is the original sign for the plaza. Participants are flying kites. We push our bikes through the plaza. There are wooden benches set up. The grass has been cut and there’s a fork in the road. Tents are gathered in the center. Further back is probably the main venue. To the right is another campsite. We take the left at the fork. It looks like people are having fun with their bikes and tents. Further on, we can see other tents. There are many boats in the marina next door. We go straight at the fork. There are many tents near the venue. The campsite extends all the way to the fence. ■Check the parking lot area We head out onto the road and head towards the main venue. There’s a banner advertising the camping event. We go a little further and look at the parking lot. There was a sign for the event at the entrance. The parking lot is open from 9:00 to 18:00. I entered the parking lot through the entrance. It was 10:00 on a Sunday, and there were a lot of cars. You can participate by car, even if you don’t have a bicycle. I made a circle around and headed to the venue. The parking lot was already full. I turned left and looked for a bicycle parking area. I found a cycle rack further to the left. I parked my bike in an empty space. I left the lock on the rack. I walked to the building. There was a comprehensive map of the area. I entered the Rinrin Port building. I turned left and stopped by the restroom. The door wouldn’t open, so I went around to the back. There were some unusual bicycles on display. I exited the door and headed straight ahead. ■Check out the shop exhibits There were a row of benches for resting. There was a food truck. A row of delicious-looking shops. In the back there were bicycle-related shops. It has a great, fun atmosphere. At the very back is the radio-controlled car course venue. I go around in a circle and head back. I find some stairs at the top of the hill. I think I can see the whole venue from above. Surprisingly, there’s no one on the roof. I can see the event venue beyond the fence. I can see the shops and the radio-controlled car course. There’s a cycling road that leads to Lake Kasumigaura. If I go to the right, I can see a food truck. Is this the photo spot for Rinrin Port? The venue seen through the photo spot. If I go further, I can see the campsite. It rained yesterday, but there are many tents. Coming by bicycle is also an option. That’s all for the event venue. You can usually camp at the marina. I’m tired, so I sit down in a chair. I open the drink I brought with me. The weather is nice and the view is beautiful. I spend some time looking at the event venue. It would be nice if I could pitch a tent even on a day trip. ■Checking the facilities I have a little more time, so I’ll take a walk around. Go down the stairs and you’ll see Rainbow. Continue down some more stairs. This is a sign for all facility users. This is the main reception at the front. There is a sign and a schedule. This is the rest area in front of the food truck. Go around and return to the building. There are cup ramen and other items inside. There is an event poster under Rinrin Port. When I took off my helmet, the door opened. There are monitors and pamphlets. There is an introduction to local specialties. There is a rest area in the middle. There was Halloween candy. Kids will love it. There is a vending machine at the back of the wall. This is a vending machine for bicycle supplies. There are coin lockers. Exit the door and that’s it for checking the facilities. ■ Enjoy Cycling Cycle as if you were a participant. The course goes around Lake Kasumigaura. Turn right along the parking lot. Once you reach the road, keep left. You’ll see the tent site area. Continue along, being careful of cars. This is near the initial entrance. There’s a small park. There was a baseball game being played at the stadium. I’d like to take a sightseeing boat ride as well. I wonder if you can get here from Tsuchiura Station? If you go straight, you’ll reach Rinrin Road. Turn left at the traffic lights and enter the road. Proceed carefully as cars will be passing by. There’s a convenience store along the way. Take your time and take breaks as you go. There’s another convenience store, so don’t worry. Cross the bridge over the Sakuragawa River. Turn left a little further ahead and enter. You’ve reached the embankment of Lake Kasumigaura. There are not many cars around here. Be careful of oncoming traffic as you go along. The cherry blossoms look beautiful in spring. There will be cars passing by, so be careful. Toilets and rest areas are located throughout. The course is generally flat. You can complete the whole loop in a day. There are some slopes in places. It feels great after climbing the hill. I was able to cycle at my own pace. I spotted a campground sign along the way. I’m curious, so I’ll call later. There’s plenty to enjoy along the lakeside. It was my first time enjoying cycling in a while. ■Summary Here’s a summary of the camping event. It’s a cycling and camping event. The parking lot was full on the second day.
