Skip bus tour and rent a bicycle in Kawaguchiko to see Mt. Fuji!

If you think taking a group tour is the best way to see Mount Fuji, think again. If you’re chasing that perfect view of Mount Fuji, skip the tour bus and grab a bicycle just 2 hours away from Tokyo station by bus. You will arrive at Kawaguchi station, the gateway to one of the most unique cycling routes in Japan. Once you arrive, you can store your luggage at a near locker rental shop and rent a bicycle. Prices usually start around 1,000 to 2,000 yen for a full day or 500 yen per hour. But trust me, go for the day rental. You can also rent an ebike here since you will want to stop, breath, and take it all in. We took the 20 km loop around Deawaguchi Co. and it was magic from the first pedal stroke. The route is beginner friendly, flat, quiet, and surrounded by panoramic views of Mount Fuji that change as you circle the lake. We passed cosy cafes, shrines, and quiet parks where Fuji picked through the trees like a silent guardian. He also went to a temple we just saw in the mob with no crowds just us. It took us around 3 hours with a few peaceful stopovers and by the end we didn’t feel like we’d seen Fuji. We felt like we’d experience it. But the next day we’re going to go hiking to Mount Fuji. So if you’re up for the day three from Tok that’s calm, scenic, and incredibly underrated. Skip the tour van and cycle around Kawaguchi go instead. Save this video for your next adventure.
