At Lake Sohara, you can enjoy beautiful scenery reflected on the lake as well as nature walks. Goshikinuma Ponds, which consist of several lakes and marshes, shows different colors at different places and times. “Yamashio” which is salt made from hot spring water has a different flavor from ordinary salt made from seawater. At Yamatogawa Sake Brewery, you can tour the sake brewery built in the Edo period (1603-1867). At Kurayashiki Azumasa, try Kitakata Ramen, one of the three best ramen in Japan! Once you have had your fill, canoeing on Lake Hibara is highly recommended. Local specialties can be purchased at the hotel store. In onsen, the body is warmed by the brownish-red muddy water with high iron content. Refresh yourself with a drink of your choice on a bench outside while enjoying the view of Mt. Bandai! The restaurant serves a buffet, featuring local delicacies such as “sauce cutlet,” “Fukushima beef sirloin steak,” “kozuyu,” and “junsai.” Fill your stomach with a variety of dishes! Uniquely, there is also an astronomical observatory. Kyukamura is where you can see the most spectacular views of Japan.
The Urabandai area, located two and a half hours from Tokyo, is surrounded by rich natural beauty, including the “Goshikinuma Ponds,” recognized by the Michelin Green Guide, and the secluded “Nakatsugawa Gorge.”
KYUKAMURA URA-BANDAI is situated at an elevation of 800 meters, surrounded by lakes, forests, and valleys formed by the eruption of Mt. Bandai.
From the hotel, you can enjoy a variety of activities such as mountain climbing, hiking, cycling, canoeing, alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and smelt fishing.
