日本縦断130kmのサイクリングで1日にどれだけ食べるか!(すごい量です)
This is everything I have to eat in a day to cycle 80 miles across Japan. The goal for today is to cycle about 130 kilometers further north from Aahikiawa to a super tiny town called Atoy Neepu. Because today’s ride’s on the longer side, I was looking for something quick on the way out of the city and stopped by what is easily one of my favorite fast food restaurants of all time, Masia. It isn’t anything glamorous, but the quality, taste, and consistency are unmatched. And even if you don’t speak Japanese, all the ordering is done on a tablet, so no human interactions required. I order the same thing every time. A large thick grilled pork set with a free upgrade to extra-l large rice, a pork soup on the side, and an order of kimchi. Every meal also comes with a side salad, unlimited self-s served tea, and a wide array of sauces to keep each bite fresh. Simple, solid, reliable. As I got rolling out of the city, this ride was essentially an endless series of hills and highway riding on Hokkaido’s extra generous road shoulders until I saw a skiing tomato and rolled up to my first roadside rest stop of the day. At a lot of these shops, they offer you wide assortments of locallymade goods and usually have at least a restaurant or two available. In this case, they had a little bakery with a pretty interesting selection, so I decided to go with a couple of breads cosplaying as fruit, another with chocolate chips and a little jug of some small batch locally produced milk. Potentially questionable riding beverage, but when in Rome, the watermelon bread was aesthetically very impressive and even had these little chocolate crumbles resembling seeds on the inside, but it just tasted like normal old bread. However, the apple one was filled with this apple custard with chunks of apple inside of it and was incredibly good. Exactly what I needed to push through the next few hours of beautiful stretches of farmland for miles on end until I passed through another tiny little town for some grub. I went into this little local shop that had a super quaint and warm atmosphere. And in addition to a little side order of karag, I decided to try out their soup curry ramen, which I’ve never seen before. It had all the same heat, aroma, and veggies of a typical bowl of soup curry, but also had a chicken thigh and a solid amount of curly noodles with a nice chew. Then, as I was making my way out of this village, I spotted this little ice cream stop. So, I decided to do my part in supporting local businesses and grabbed a luscious and creamy vanilla cone and also a little school of these freshly grilled hot and melty red bean tayyaki before I got back on the road. And then I made my final push into the very, very small town of Atoy Nepu. I’m not even sure if there were any restaurants open here aside from a convenience store. But fortunately for me, I was able to book a stay in this little guest house where I got this entire room for just 26 bucks. Because there wasn’t much food around, the owners offered me up a specialty dish local to this village called black soba, which is made from whole ground buckwheat, husk and all. So, it had a nice and earthy flavor that paired really well with the light dashi broth and kakiag and also a side of fried rice. See you guys tomorrow.

The people who let you sleep in the guest house seem like really good people, especially the fact they fed you themselves

What happened to your are?
"No human interaction required" And you make it sounds as if it's normal and convenient. Well, it is, for the good or worse.
I will be so sad if I were you though.
If possible, eat from local restaurants. Learn their language and culture as well.
What's the use cycling around japan if you learn nothing from its people? If I have the fund, time and leisure to travel abroad and having a trip there, I'd make as many local friends as possible during my trip.
Even if it would take time to learn hiragana, katana, and Kanji. You could still learn the language orally. And you'll be amazed by the work they put to produce their products.
