本州と四国を結ぶルートは現在以下の３つのルートがあります。
　
　#1　児島・坂出ルート（こじま・さかいでルート、通称：瀬戸大橋）
　　　　全線開通：1988年（昭和63年）4月10日

　#2　神戸・鳴門ルート（こうべ・なるとルート、通称：明石海峡大橋・大鳴門橋）
　　　　全線開通：1998年（平成10年）4月5日

　#3　尾道・今治ルート（おのみち・いまばりルート、通称：瀬戸内しまなみ海道）
　　　　全線開通：1999年（平成11年）5月1日（生口島、大島内の高速道路を除く）

　今回は、そのうちの最後に全線開通した尾道今治ルート（通称しまなみ海道）の動画です。このルートは自動車専用の西瀬戸自動車道の一部となっています。
　走行区間は、尾道IC周辺から今治北IC、来島海峡展望館までです。この区間は自転車道も整備されており自転車で走る人も見かけました。
走行した時期は、２０２４年１２月上旬です。

Connecting route of Honshu and Shikoku across the Inland Sea of Japan

Currently, there are three routes connecting Honshu and Shikoku.
#1 Kojima-Sakaide Route (also known as the Great Seto Bridge)
　 Fully opened: April 10, 1988

#2 Kobe-Naruto Route (also known as the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge and the Onaruto Bridge)
Fully opened: April 5, 1998

#3 Onomichi-Imabari Route (also known as the Setouchi Shimanami Kaido)
Fully opened: May 1, 1999 (excluding Ikuchijima and the expressway on Oshima)

This video shows the Onomichi-Imabari Route (commonly known as the Shimanami Kaido), which was the last of these to be fully opened. This route is part of the Nishi-Seto Expressway, which is for automobiles only.
The section we drove on runs from around the Onomichi IC to Imabari Kita IC and the Kurushima Kaikyo Observatory. There is also a bicycle path on this section, and we saw people riding bicycles.
The drive took place in early December 2024.
