Continuing from the last vlog of Oita and Miyazaki, this time it’s a vlog of Aso in Kumamoto. When in Aso, you have to try the Akaushi (Aso’s popular brand beef). It was super crowded, so we decided to take it out. Let’s eat at Aso Central Park.
What a beautiful view! Akaushi beef bowl, 2,000 yen, comes with pickles and miso soup.
The perfect grill and the strong flavor of the unique Akaushi beef were incredible. We headed to Aso Milk Factory to find dessert.
Time for some gelato. I got a double scoop with strawberry and rum raisin for 450 yen and a single purple sweet potato scoop for 400 yen.
The size of the single was bigger than expected lol We’ve arrived at Daikanbo. From 936 meters up, you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view.
It’s also nice that admission is free! Now we’re taking a stroll through Kikuchi Gorge. We spent about an hour enjoying nature.
We were lured by a nice smell to this place. Grilled chicken skewers, 600 yen. The focus is off…
The meat is tender, and the salt is perfectly balanced. Before heading to the inn, we’re stopping by Kurokawa Onsen’s souvenir shop to look for something we bought last time that was delicious. It’s called “Shuwarin,” a Japanese sake.
Last time, I was drawn to the cute packaging and bought it, and it was delicious, so I’m getting it again. I’ve always wanted to try the super rich Aso Oguni Jersey yogurt drink.
Last time, I bought a small size and regretted not getting a bigger one because it was so good. found a cat! Tonight, we’re staying at our favorite inn, Yamashinobu. Such a lovely entrance. When being shown to the room, they bring you tea and handmade ohagi (sweet rice cake).
This is really delicious. 35,640 yen per night, includes breakfast and dinner. I also love the private baths here.
There are three, and if one is available, you can use it anytime. Whenever we go, at least one is open. Now, the dinner we’ve been looking forward to! The rice cooked in a Donabe(Japanese earthenware pot) with ingredients from their farm is amazing. The food here is truly delicious.
We’re full and very satisfied. After dinner, we headed to the hearth.
You can enjoy sake and green tea for free. Such a blissful time… The night snack rice balls were so good.
There was also stargazing, making it a wonderful night. Breakfast is also amazing. There’s plenty of rice, which makes me happy. After breakfast, we had milk and coffee.
Yamashinobu is the kind of inn that makes you want to come back every time. We stopped by the nearby Meotodaki Waterfall.
Meoto:-married couple It’s said to be named because two waterfalls merge together. Before heading to a cafe, we made a quick stop. An approximately 1,000-year-old, 32-meter-tall giant zelkova tree.
You can feel its history. We arrived at Cafe Take-no-Kuma. We came here for this! Green tea cafe latte, both hot and iced, for 800 yen.
We came just after the rice harvest, but I’d like to come again when the rice stalks are beautifully golden. We ate Akaushi beef again for lunch.
This time, at a place called Hanabishi. Akaushi beef bowl, 2,200 yen.
Personally, I prefer this place as the balance between fat and lean meat is better. It’s great that it comes with a pickled vegetable buffet. found a friendly cat nearby that you can pet. We came to our favorite place for Kanzarashi (sweet dumplings) at a shop called Yui. Kanzarashi with black sugar syrup, 500 yen.
It feels like coming home to grandma’s house, giving you a calm and peaceful feeling. Finally, we experienced a typical Aso event – encountering thick fog on the way to the airport. We were with Kumamon (Kumamoto’s famous character) until the very end.
