【ADV150ツーリング】石岡パラグライダー場から1000人画廊・鹿島神宮まで|絶景をつなぐ初夏の茨城県
Home in Koga City, Ibaraki Prefecture It was a weekend in late June when the temperature started to rise. The ADV150 exceeded 20,000 km, marking a new milestone. This time, we traveled from the southern part of Ibaraki Prefecture to the Shika region. It is an easily accessible route that allows you to fully enjoy Ibaraki Prefecture. We drove leisurely through the peaceful scenery. We departed from Koga City, Ibaraki Prefecture, and headed toward Mt. Tsukuba. We aimed for the paragliding field in Ishioka City. After that, we crossed Lake Kasumigaura and proceeded to the Kashima area. We visited the scenic spot along the coast, “1000-Person Gallery,” and also stopped by the water gate of Kashima Shrine. After that, we drove along the winding roads along Lake Kasumigaura and also visited the Ina Forni Event Space. This is a local touring route connecting the entire journey via local roads, enjoying the mountains and seas of Ibaraki Prefecture. Ibaraki Prefecture, Prefectural Road 56, Koga City, Kunou The time is 7:49 a.m., and the temperature is 19°C. It is still cool and comfortable. Today’s high is expected to reach 34°C. Ibaraki Prefecture, Prefectural Road 56, Koga City, Onna After driving for 10 minutes, the view suddenly opens up to greenery. This is a prefectural road route where you can enjoy driving through nature. The roads in Ibaraki Prefecture remind me of Hokkaido. Ibaraki Prefecture National Route 125 Shimotsuma City Nagatsuka We have entered Shimotsuma City on National Route 125. This town is known as the setting for the movie “Shimotsuma Monogatari.” In the distance, you can see Mount Tsukuba. Ibaraki Prefecture, Tsukuba City, Kitajo We entered Tsukuba City and had breakfast. We went to a ramen shop that was open early in the morning. It was really nice that it was open from early in the morning. Ibaraki Prefecture, Chinese Soba Haruchan It was open from 6 a.m., which was very helpful. We could relax in the calm, izakaya-style interior. We ordered cold Chinese soba (large portion). The cold soup had a rich flavor. The special noodles were firm and satisfying. Ibaraki Prefecture, Prefectural Road 14, Tsukuba City, Kamigun I enjoyed a satisfying bowl of ramen in the morning. I drove leisurely along the side of Mount Tsukuba. Seeing Mount Tsukuba up close, it feels very large. Ibaraki Prefecture, Prefectural Road 41, Sakuragawa City, Makabe Town Entering Sakuragawa City, there is a long straight road with a good view. There are no high mountains other than the Tsukuba Mountains, and the terrain is open. Ibaraki Prefecture, Ishioka Chikusei Line, Makabe Town, Yamao We entered the Ishioka Chikusei Line. This route leads to Mt. Ashio in the northern part of the Tsukuba Mountains. The slope gradually becomes steeper. Ibaraki Prefecture, Ishioka Chikusei Line, Makabe Town, Yamao As we pass through the mountain village, the atmosphere changes. From this point on, the slope becomes steeper. The trees become denser, and we finally enter the steep climb. Ibaraki Prefecture, North Tsukuba Ridge Forest Road, Entrance Entering the North Tsukuba Ridge Forest Road, the road narrows. Although it is a forest road, the surface is well-maintained. The quiet road winds through the trees. Ibaraki Prefecture, North Tsukuba Ridge Forest Road, Sakuragawa City 0:05:21.260,0:05:25.270
The canopy of trees softens the direct sunlight. We slowly pass through the dappled sunlight. Ibaraki Prefecture AIR PARK COO Paragliding Takeoff Site I stopped by because I saw an open view. There are paragliding takeoff sites here and there. Ibaraki Prefecture North Tsukuba Ridge Forest Road Sakura City The altitude has increased, and the temperature is just right at 23°C. The road continues to be narrow and winding. Each curve creates a sense of tension. I can see paragliders. Many people are waiting at the takeoff site. The wind is calm, creating ideal conditions. Ibaraki Prefecture, Ishigaki City Paragliding Takeoff Site Upon arrival, I lingered for a moment to take in the scenery. Located on a plateau at an elevation of approximately 330 meters, the view is expansive. On clear days, the Nikko Mountains are clearly visible. The cityscape of Sakura City is also clearly visible. It is a pleasant spot to enjoy the sky. Paragliders are preparing for takeoff. The view is so beautiful that you can’t help but stare at it. Ibaraki Prefecture, Ishigaki City Paragliding Takeoff Site I was mesmerized by the scenery and lost myself in thought. Paragliders are also being prepared in the distance. With a sense of reluctance, I move on to the next destination. Ibaraki Prefecture, North Tsukuba Ridge Forest Road, Ishigaki City I enter another narrow, winding mountain pass. After passing the paragliding site, the road becomes a downhill slope. Ibaraki Prefecture, Otsuka Makabe Line, Ishigaki City, Otsuka Entering the Otsuka Makabe Line, the road becomes unpaved from here. The Maruyama Forest Road at the fork was paved, but we chose this road prioritizing the exit and time. Ibaraki Prefecture, Otsuka Makabe Line, Ishigaki City, Otsuka The gravel unpaved road continues for about 10 minutes. We carefully navigate the road, paying attention to the surface. This is a section requiring cautious driving. Ibaraki Prefecture, Otsuka Makabe Line, Ishigaki City, Otsuka At the end of a long downhill slope, a clearing in the forest appeared. Seeing artificial buildings brought a sense of relief. It felt like being pulled back into everyday life from the mountain road. Ibaraki Prefecture, County Road 64, Ishigaki City, Uji-kai The long gravel road ends, and we return to the paved road. The road surface is smooth, and the tires roll comfortably. From here, we head south toward Kasumigaura. Ibaraki Prefecture Fruit Line Ishigaki City Yoshio We drive along the “Fruit Line,” which connects fruit orchards. The windmills and 1 km of murals make for a beautiful picture. Works depicting the future and dreams are lined up in a row. With the industrial area behind us, the wind blows quietly. This is Kamisu’s landscape art, painted by the wind. When viewed from the back, the power of the structure is evident.
