【福岡旅】大人の夏休み!宗像大島&宗像大社、宮地嶽神社の七夕・風凛まつりを巡る夏のドライブ旅!
Hello, this is Toyolo Travel. The theme of this episode is summer vacation for adults. We’ll be touring Munakata Oshima in midsummer by rental bicycle . It was a wonderful place with so much to see that it could fill up our illustrated diary. Please watch until the end. We arrived at Kamiminato Port and headed to Munakata Oshima, a registered World Heritage Site. The round-trip fare for adults was 1,140 yen. There were about one ferry every two hours. On Saturdays during the summer vacation , the ferry was bustling with people heading to the beach. It was about a 25-minute ferry ride to Oshima. We headed to the ferry terminal to rent a bicycle. Renting a bicycle is recommended as it allows for freedom of movement. “Munakata Taisha Shrine” We arrived at Nakatsu Shrine, a World Heritage Site. Nakatsu Shrine is located on the south side of the island. On the north side of the island, there is the Okitsu Shrine Worship Site , and on clear days, you can see Okinoshima . The Tanabata Festival is held on August 7th (Tanabata in the lunar calendar). The grounds are illuminated with the light of bamboo lanterns, creating a magical atmosphere . The enshrined deity is Tatsutsuhime, the second daughter of the Three Munakata Goddesses. Tanabata streamers adorn the grounds . At the back of the grounds is Amemanai Well, a sacred spring water passed down since ancient times. It is said to grant longevity, matchmaking, and advancement in the performing arts. We received a Tanabata-exclusive goshuin stamp. This is the birthplace of the Tanabata legend. A small stream called the Milky Way flows through the area . At the back is Orihime Shrine. The Milky Way flows into the sea. Next to Nakatsu Shrine, at the top of Ebisu Shrine, you will find Hikobushi Shrine. As in Tanabata legend, it is on the other side of the Milky Way. What beautiful weather! Can you see Okinoshima? Yes , you can! 海底遺跡です 。 English: That’s Okinoshima… The person at the community center gave me candy , that was so kind! World Heritage Site “The Sacred Island.” That’s Okinoshima. The entire island of Okinoshima is a sacred object, and the general public is not allowed to enter. The closest you can get to Okinoshima is “Munakata Taisha Okitsumiya Worship Site.” Another World Heritage Site, “The Sacred Island,” the “Island Protected by the Gods” that has protected Okinoshima. I headed to the Munakata Oshima Windmill Observation Point. After about a 10-minute uphill ride, I came across a ranch. This is the most scenic spot on Oshima , where you can interact with horses . Horseback riding in magnificent nature looks like it would be fun. Children as young as three can experience leading a horse. There are no vending machines at the back of the island, which is a blessing. There is a memorial monument to the Battle of Tsushima during the Russo-Japanese War . The vast ocean was a fierce battlefield at the time , and the calm blue waters seem to be comforting the souls of the war dead. I felt the preciousness of peace. Huh? Which one? Is it this one? The windmills are turning slowly. There are some whitecaps (windmills). They’re turning, slowly. The power of the wind is amazing! They must be heavy (Okinoshima). It must be a sacred place (Oshima). There aren’t many people, so swimming in the sea is also nice. The 360-degree panoramic view makes you feel the summer . The remains of a battery once built by the former Japanese army remain. The cool air… it’s like time has stopped. Cycling in the middle of summer, I made sure to hydrate frequently to avoid heatstroke. It was a good idea to bring ice packs from home. There are restrooms at the back of the island, but no vending machines. Drinks can only be purchased near the ferry terminal, so I recommend buying plenty. This is where fierce battles were once fought, and now the lush greenery and calm sea stretch out before me. I took a short break at this shop and enjoyed a nice, iced coffee. It was a cozy, Showa-era retro cafe . The coffee was delicious. Thanks for the meal! Now that my energy has been restored, I’ll try a little mountain climbing, heading for Ontake Shrine at the top of the mountain. I’ll be leaving the island in an hour, so I’ll climb at a fast pace. However, my legs are already shaking from cycling . Encouraged by the signs, I press on. I’ll take a short break. From here, it’s a battle with myself. I’m tired… The finish is just around the corner. The finish!!! I’ve reached the top. The view that only those who have climbed can see is amazing! This is incredible!! It feels great! It took about 30 minutes from the trailhead to the summit. The rough spirit of “Tanatsuhime-no-kami”, the deity of Nakatsu Shrine, is enshrined here. I paid my respects and somehow managed to catch the return ferry. Today’s lunch is here . Munakata faces the Genkai Sea and is a treasure trove of seafood, and one of the local specialties loved by locals is “tai chazuke”. First, we put the sea bream marinated in sauce on top of the rice. Next, we poured hot soup over it to make it into tai chazuke. Even in the hot summer, this is easy to eat. We also ordered tempura, which was crispy and delicious. For those who want to enjoy a variety of fish, we also recommend this (including the sauce). Is it okay to put everything on it? Isn’t it okay to put the condiments on it as is? Add the condiments and the marinated rice bowl is complete! It looks so delicious! The aroma of the hot soup rising from the bowl is amazing! The fish raised in the rough waters of the Genkai Sea are all firm and exceptional. My appetite was low in the scorching sun, but having ochazuke was the right choice. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal! “Munakata Taisha Shrine Arriving at Hetsumiya Shrine , the enshrined deities are the three goddesses of Amaterasu Omikami: the eldest daughter, Tagomorihime, is enshrined at Okitsumiya (Okinoshima), the second daughter, Takutsuhime, is enshrined at Nakatsumiya (Oshima ), and the third daughter, Ichikishimahime, is enshrined at Hetsumiya (mainland). These three shrines are collectively called Munakata Taisha Shrine. Here at Hetsumiya Shrine, there are also shrines called the Second and Third Shrines, where you can greet all the gods at once. He is the supreme deity of all “paths” – land, sea, and sky – and watches over not just physical “paths” but also the “paths” of life. Kandamorihime, who will clear your doubts and guide you to the right path, will grant you the strength to forge a path through the powerful Shinto that controls the strong currents of the tides . Takutsuhime, who symbolizes inner strength, Deeply revered by those seeking spiritual stability and strength, this ancient ritual site, quietly nestled deep in the forest, is where the Three Munakata Goddesses first descended from heaven. There’s no main shrine or worship hall ; all that remains is a stone-surrounded ritual site and trees towering into the sky . The god of silence , however, resides in nature, rather than in the shrine itself. I ‘d been diligently hydrating, but I suspect I might have suffered from mild heatstroke. Still reluctant to leave the princess rice cakes behind, I headed for Miyajidake Shrine , replenishing the electrolytes I’d lost with oral rehydration solution from a drugstore . Finally, I took a short detour to Miyajidake Shrine, the head shrine of all Miyajidake Shrines across Japan. The “Path of Light,” made famous by an Arashi commercial, shows the setting sun crossing the sea and connecting directly with the approach to the shrine. You can only see this miraculous moment twice a year, in February and October. Looking up at the large pine cone , you’ll see a magnificent pine tree. I hope you visit this shrine in the summer too! The cool flower water fountain made with aqua panels seems to have been installed as a COVID-19 countermeasure, but it’s so beautiful . Just looking at the tower gate decorated with Tanabata decorations lifts your spirits. You’ll be welcomed by the sagemon and enter the main shrine. The main deity is Empress Jingu, the goddess of good fortune who overcomes anything. Moma (owls) are messengers of the gods, and it is said that if you live honestly and righteously, you will be blessed with good fortune. The owls, “Mo-chan” and “Ma-kun,” have a tsundere personality . There are eight small shrines at the back of the shrine grounds , each offering various benefits, such as financial luck, health, and matchmaking. If you visit all of them, you will receive great benefits. : The Seven Gods Gather at Shichifuku Shrine, where seven gods are said to be blessed with good fortune, virtue, and financial luck. A summer pilgrimage, the Furin Festival, creates the Milky Way with 5,000 wind chimes. The sound that resonates with each breeze is soothing. From here, enjoy the cool sound of the wind chimes. Manjizo is the guardian deity of children. The most eye-catching is the “Koi no Miya” (Love Palace ), a shrine for matchmaking and romantic fulfillment. Ema (votive plaques) with wishes written on them are lined up. Sanbo Arajinja, the god of the kitchen who governs fire and food; Inari Shrine , the god of bountiful harvests; Yakushi Shrine, the god of health and recovery from illness; and Mizujinja, the god of water. Visitors pray to these shrines to express their gratitude for the blessings of water. A stroll through the quiet forest and small shrines will lighten your heart. I hope you enjoyed this video. It was a peaceful time spent on a gentle island and a fulfilling day . Thank you for watching until the end.
