This is absolutely mental. We’re literally in the middle of the jungle. This cannot be right. The roads just keep getting narrower and steeper. I just don’t think we’re in the right place. Well, it’s not on that hill, is it? Vertical. Yeah. No. Stop it. If we go off, we’re going out of the back there. You actually can’t. You could even walk up there. I don’t know how we’re going to leave here. Don’t touch it. Touch it. Touch it. Go on. Look, the camera’s touching it. There’s a little girl there. Look, she’s touching it. Go. A little touch with your finger. See? So, these trees look like they’re broken. They’ve fallen down, but they’re still alive, hanging on by a little Look, the roots still hanging on, but they’re on their on their ass. Gosh. Oh, wow. Oh, look at that Victoria Park made out of flowers and stones. So, this other bit of the garden explains that it was um inspired by Japan. This part is beautifully kept. The string, the see-through string and like you used to make them go through your fingers. I love the ‘ 90s. Look at the size of that tree. He knows what’s up. Your country? Yeah. I love this country. You You like it? Yeah. Okay, that’s good. I like your You like his jacket? I love your jacket. Okay. Bye. Bye. Say bye. Bye. Yeah. Yeah. So, what’s your name? My name is Tony. And you? What do you do here? Uh my work supervisor. Yeah, supervisor. The people are working. I look after the work. You could do the gardens. Gardens. Wow. What’s your favorite bit? Flower smell like a banana flower. Yeah. We had this very big bush for the trees. It smell like a banana. Where is that? Yeah. Oh, we’re going to have a minute. The flower name. My from madam England. England. Nice garden. Q garden. I like it. Thank you. Very nice garden. England. Q garden. English garden. Yeah. Like a cube garden in this garden. All English flower. Carnation plium sweet po holy hawks pansies. Wow. Very English plant. Yes. Wow. It’s very nicely done. Yes. You must wait. I come back. Nice flower. Smell like a banana. Oh, okay. Oh, wow. Thank you. You smell this now? Nice. [Music] What does it smell like? It smells like milkshake. Banana milkshake. Banana milkshake. Banana milkshake. Wow. Smell. Oh, wow. It does smell. You want to smell? Yeah. Wow. It does, doesn’t it? It smells nice. Yes. Wow. The name. And it actually does smell like a banana milkshake. So he was just saying they have 27 gardeners here to keep it so nice. So this park was named after Queen Victoria’s 60th Jubilee. That was all the way in 1897. And it’s 27 acres big, this garden. So one gardener per acre. There’s also a massive kids playground here, which is perfect cuz we’ve been setting a tuk tuk for a little while. Now it needs a little break. That’s a little mini railway. Who needs the candy to Ella, huh? I actually looked in for a train. It’s embarrassing. You’ll notice today we went for the half half approach. Half jumper, half shorts, half winter, half summer. Can I for the evening, for the morning? It’s just starting to rain. Get back to the tuk tuk. [Music] Tell you what, it’s a good job you two have got jumpers, isn’t it? Yeah, you have. Naz has got his bubbles that he’s wanted. This is the first time we’re in the tuk tuk. Yeah. With the curtains. And and and we got wet. Yeah. Called a presser. And you can do this. Yeah. When we stop, we’re teach it. Yeah. So, morning officer. Hello. Morning officer. [Music] The highest village in Sri Lanka. 7,339 kilome. It’s 40 kilometers feet feet above sea level. So, it’s actually really beautiful. Really busy though. But it’s um pissy. Yeah. This is for Instagram reality. Instagram reality. It’s lovely passing through all the villages and everyone waves. It’s just a real life atmosphere. Mountain life is always a pleasant calm life. So this journey we’re about to do will be really interesting because this is the journey that the popular train the most popular train from Candy to Ella. Candy to Ella. That’s where it goes. So we’re going to go via tuk tuk. So, we’re going to drive along. We’re basically in we’re basically the road follows the track all the way down to Ella. Um, so we’ll see what it’s like in the tuk tuk. We’ve had mixed reviews. Some people say the train’s good. Some people say it’s not worth taking 8 hours. Some people say it’s okay for 2 hours. Some people say it’s amazing. We’re going to go to nine bridges. We’re going to find out for ourselves. Yeah. But this was a lovely morning wake up. Lovely view all the way down there to Gregory Lake and where we were yesterday visiting all of the stuff. I’ll be honest with you though. I think the view just down the road is better. Unless maybe it’s over here. Maybe we’re missing the good bit. We’re going to go and have a look. This is it. This is This is the rally. That’s the lake. What’s really crazy here is the weather is baffling. You’ll have conditions for each valley almost. And yesterday there was a big black cloud coming up. It looked like it was coming our way, but it just stayed on the mountain and didn’t get to us all day. But it was just there hovering. Didn’t rain, one drop. and he said, “Yeah, we we have literal lines where the weather just stops and it doesn’t go any further and just stays in that valley.” So, what you will notice is the waterfall is quite dry at the minute because it hasn’t rained for ages here and they’re almost like running out of water a little bit. So, the um the waterfalls are quite uh dry. A lot of them that you’ll find at the side of the road have completely dried up. So, there is a bit of a story behind this waterfall. It’s called Lover’s Leap because the legend goes that there was a prince and he was hunting around the area and he got lost. So, a young local girl um helped him and helped guide him and they fell in love. But his family disapproved of their love and they wanted to be together, but they disapproved of their marriage and so they both jumped over the waterfall and that is why it’s called lover’s leap. Now, a lot of locals will completely avoid walking around this area at night because they believe that the souls or the spirits of the two lovers that leapt are still very much walking around here and haunting it. Sussex College over there. So, so strange. It’s very dark back here. Oh, the window opens on. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. Batman. Batman. It’s still absolutely tipping it down. This is supposed to be the most beautiful bit of the journey. We can’t see anything, but from what we can see, it does look really good. So, fingers crossed the rain is going to ease in a minute. The rain is just starting to ease off now and we’re probably like 20 minutes away from ever and hold on tight. Wow, nice. This is absolutely mental. We’re literally in the middle of the jungle. This cannot be right. [Music] The roads just keep getting narrower and steeper. I just don’t think we’re in the right place. Cascade Valley. Okay, thank you. Hello. Do you know where Cascade Valley? Yeah. Up there? Yeah. Yeah. The the the pink one. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Thank you. Oh, that’s good. It’s only another Well, it’s not on that hill, is it? Vertical. Yeah. No, stop it. If we go off, we’re going out of the back there. No, it’s not up there. Don’t be Don’t be ridiculous. It is. Well, we can’t go up there. You actually can’t go there. You could even walk out there. I don’t know. That cannot be right. No. No. Right. Can you jump out? So, um, we did manage to get up the hill. We are in the middle of nowhere.

We are Eleise and Lawrence & Nyh – A young family from the south of England. Like many people the pandemic gave us a shake up! While watching hours of Mark Weins in Thailand – We had our “Ah ha” Moment. We decided we wanted to travel.
Enjoying working for ourselves, we didn’t want to give up our business and decided it was entirely possible for us to do both. So we set about making it our lifestyle to work in the UK for a month, and then travel for a month – month on, month off…. until our little boy Nyh goes to school! We want to inspire people that you don’t have to up-sticks, sell all your belongings and leave behind family to be able to see the world.
