從颱風過境的熱帶田野,回到水泥森林。電動車環海南島1000km!|Hainan on a Budget: Just Me and My E-bike!
Wow, the fog today is really heavy. It’s just a thick mist everywhere. And now it’s already 7 o’clock. You can’t see anything. Ah, the fog has cleared now. Much better. The roosters and ducks are calling to sleep. The natural sounds are quite comforting. This is what I bought yesterday. For breakfast. It’s already past 9. After eating, I’ll pack up and set off. I’ve packed my big backpack. Ready to go. Ah, it’s already 11:40. Still dragging. Oh, I dawdled so much. It’s almost noon when kids finish school. The weather is okay, wow. You know, the small houses here in Hainan are really beautiful. This one has three floors, and the structure front and back is quite nice. Today is my last day cycling around Hainan by e-bike. From Wenchang to Haikou. About ninety-something kilometers to finish. Then I’ll talk about my feelings from these days cycling around the island. Riding this e-bike, firstly it’s low cost, energy-saving and eco-friendly. Its rental price is even cheaper than mountain bikes. And it’s effortless. Electricity cost is almost negligible. Many guesthouses and restaurants on the road offer charging. Secondly, it’s quite flexible. You can reach various villages. Easily ride into rural paths by the sea. As long as you don’t get lost, and don’t wander blindly, it’s fine. For example, some seaside temples and forest trails, can all be freely explored with ease. The third point, I think is it allows you to genuinely experience the tropical environment. It’s not like a car that blocks your senses. You can truly feel the Hainan breeze. Without needing to pedal hard like on a bike. Feel the slow pace of life here. And interact directly with nature. Smell the scent of the fields. Taste Hainan’s tropical fruits. Ah, I came here wanting to eat, but it’s only selling breakfast. One kilometer ahead. Looks like we’ve arrived here. This should be the place the owner mentioned one kilometer away. I don’t see any food around. Oh, looks like here. Oh, I got food! This pig’s trotters cost 20 yuan. This one 15. I asked him to stir-fry a smaller portion. He originally said 20. Their specialty is stir-fried dishes. Hmm, this pig’s trotters are quite good. Tasty. Wow, it’s really hot here. Every household has a hammock. Here’s one. And another one. Hmm. And here too. Why is this road back to a rural path? Oh, now it’s back to a wide highway. But there’s not much scenery on both sides. Just some weeds. Continuing on. My impressions of cycling around Hainan on this e-bike One more thing is parking convenience. No worries about traffic jams. Like in crowded tourist spots such as Sanya scenic areas, it’s even more flexible. You can park anywhere. For places where parking fees are charged, e-bikes don’t need to pay at all. And you can stop whenever you like when you find a nice view. There’s also this along the edges here. There are many small ponds. It’s 1:50 now. I still have about 60 kilometers to go. I should arrive around 3 or 4 pm. There are so many traffic lights in the city. About 48 traffic lights. The travel pace is moderate. Not tiring physically or mentally. Also safer than motorcycles. You can set your own pace on the way. Stop anytime to think, take photos, or zone out. But there are some precautions. Avoid riding under the midday sun. Remember to stay hydrated and use sunscreen. Also, I don’t recommend riding long distances at night. Many rural roads have no lights. Safety is quite poor. A very peaceful small village. There’s really no scenery on both sides of the road here. But here is a large area. Very dense. Wow, how many chickens are there? Keep riding forward. Not even two steps. There are even more here. Wow, there are so many in this place. Oh, it’s very dense and all are… Wow, now we are about to cross a big bridge. Haiwen Bridge. About 4 kilometers long. The wind is quite strong on this bridge. And next to it is the sea. The sea. Wow, they are actually walking on this beach. We should be entering Haikou now. Look at the city’s greenery and tall buildings. They are slowly changing. It’s so scorching hot. I don’t know the temperature. I didn’t check before going out, no shade here. So sunny Wow, why did it turn cloudy again now? The sun keeps appearing and disappearing There are so many cars in the city This lane is also very crowded On this bridge The whole side is filled with car noises And on this side there are small cities and electric scooters Ah, the highway is still better There are really many people and cars here Oh, these densely packed buildings I haven’t seen them for several days Wow, watermelons here are 1.5 yuan each I bought them for 2.5 in Sanya the other day What a loss! Finally arrived Returned the electric bike, done! Now first bought a sugarcane juice Want to try it Sweet, originally wanted to buy a watermelon But I can’t eat it now Ah, I think sugarcane juice tastes better than coconut juice Sometimes coconut juice has no flavor Sugarcane is quite sweet It’s now past 5 o’clock The sun is still high Oh my, I am still waiting at this bus stop Waited for half an hour, more than an hour, still no bus Now I changed to booking a ride-hailing car The sky is still very bright now This is amazing Two days, two nights Two days, two nights Forty-nine hours You’re awesome No problem, my girl rides a motorbike in summer Pretty good But it doesn’t work if it’s not the campus area When I left Haikou, I took a ride-hailing car driven by a guy from Northeast China He was quite talkative Actually, I also saw in him that everyone is searching for a place more comfortable than the present Whether it is climate, pace, or hopes On the tenth day of cycling in Hainan which is also the last day The destination was expected But my feelings were really unexpected Because cycling from Wenchang to Haikou From this wide open land To finally cycling into the concrete forest of the city This visual change Caused a slight change in my mental state Along the way There was no coastline No sunset beach Only large fields swept by typhoons More and more dense buildings and unfamiliar crowds Because in these days I visited Many quiet villages Open fields And some beaches and coconut groves with hardly any people And finally, I arrived at Haikou, the completed starting point But did not feel the joy of completing the task as expected Instead, there was a kind of Wow, it’s over! emptiness But along the way I saw many ways of life Within ten days Hainan for me is more than just a tourist island It is actually a microcosm It has become more three-dimensional Not what I imagined when doing the travel research The check-in spots on various travel platforms And not just sunshine and beaches Like Sanya Bay It has tropical farmland I have never seen before Tropical rainforest And tropical fruits And the development here Some abandoned villa areas Large empty towns developed Then turning around You can see the contrast with large farmland And the uncle herding cattle at the village entrance And right next to him are RV-driving migratory birds from all over the country This is the contrast And some culture existing here itself Large ancestral halls of prominent families And some lively old tea shops And some regional cultural food here The island cycling trip Also gave me a clearer understanding of this place It is not limited to letting me rest briefly in one place But to have a broader understanding of Hainan A place That can accommodate so many ways of life An expansion Of my perception Also gave me more thoughts
