There’s something wrong with my motorcycle… I think… | S1E84
Here, listen. Hmm. My journey began at North America’s most northern drivable point. After riding through Canada and America, I’ve crossed over to Europe. From there, I’ll make my way across Asia and down to Australia. New Zealand’s southern most drivable point will mark the end of my journey. I’m calling it the big spiral and this is act 4 a lap of Ireland and the United Kingdom All right, see you later, thank you see you Take care, take care! See you! Alright Yeah, that was the Airbnb guy, I actually moved a little bit So I was actually maybe about 40 minutes south here and I just moved up to a little bit north Maybe once I get to the back road, I’ll give you a little you know… Oh, there’s some sheep. I’ll let you know what what’s going on It’s raining pretty good and more than I thought actually but I’m sure it’ll improve. Okay. I got turned down here apparently Alright, maybe I’m gonna put my rain jacket on here maybe pants too Alright, well the rain calmed down a little bit. So maybe I’ll just tell you what the plan is. Maybe the wind’s coming. So we’re just like right in here somewhere. And today I need to get to, where is it? Ullapool. And tomorrow I’m going to be hopping on a ferry across to these islands. So these islands, they’re called the Hebrides. And apparently very beautiful, very popular. So I’m going to kind of do like a try to go through the mountains here as much as I can. I’m not sure how it’s all going to work out But I know if I stay in the mountains, things will probably get pretty interesting. So anyways, yeah, maybe we should keep going. Alright, let’s see what kind of trouble we can get into. I do see a little blue sky Bunch of logging happening out here. It’s a bit like BC isn’t it? Looks rainy up there. Oh boy Oh, roads changing Wow cool rocks here I wonder how this is gonna turn out. I honestly, I have no idea what’s up here. It could be a bit of a disaster Uh-oh Oh Is that it or? It’s double track after I can definitely get the bike through there but this is like pretty good indication that they don’t want vehicles up there so all right let’s turn around it’s a very Scottish day isn’t Oh man Alright well I had a look at the map I think I got another way we can kind of take If you look over there there’s those windmills. I think there’s a road that goes up by those windmills I can take. Oops. Oh I was looking at the windmills not the road. Lucky that didn’t happen there. Oh, okay calm down. Oh my god Okay, instead of turning here I think we can go straight Oh, can I go straight? Looks fairly overgrown This road is getting pretty small and there’s a pile of dirt there Oh yeah, easy Cool, I found a different way out of here too, so that’s good. You don’t have to see duplicate stuff The sun’s coming out! Oh it’s windy up here I guess that makes sense okay now what back to the pavement Alright so going around these mountains here, something like that Just kind of exploring, to be honest. I could use a bit of lunch though, so maybe in the next town, see if I can find some food. Oh, it’s not a bad view, is it? alright, I think, according to my map, there’s a store here. Yeah, see if I can find some food. I’ll get a cheeseburger with chips. alright, let’s see how it is. Oh, nice and simple, that’ll be fine. Oh, well that hit the spot. It’s nice to eat something. Okay, well let’s continue. I don’t know exactly where I’m going, but yeah. Doesn’t matter so much. As long as I get to the, what’s it called? Ullapool or something? Oh! Hello. What are you doing? What kind of bird are you? (laughs) Beautiful bird though, wow. I guess I can’t go. Yeah, I was hoping get to Ullapool. That says no vehicle access. Well, it was a nice detour anyhow. But yeah, I guess we’re going around. Too many gates, too many gates. alright, back on the main road. Oh, what was this town? The like Bonar Bridge or something, this town? I guess I probably just crossed it. (laughs) So I found a line on the map. alright, I have no idea if this is gonna all work, but I just, I like to be in the mountains. So I’m just gonna go and see. It’s still some time. Dirt already, that’s a good sign. But maybe, I don’t know, the further you go up these things, the worse they get, so. A gate. That didn’t take long. Oh no, the clutch. I think my clutch is going again. Here, listen. (motor whirring) Oh, it’s not slipping now. Hrmm… Look at that. Ullapool. Very, very pretty little town. It’s funny, like, to me it’s the ferry port, so that’s why I’m here, but it’s really… especially when coming down the hill back there, very pretty town. It’s kind of nice, you know, to not know what you’re riding into. Okay, I got to find something to eat… Quite hungry. Oh yeah, oh, that’s the ferry. That’s the ferry I’m taking tomorrow. Really cute little town. – Heya
– Hi I’ll just get a Scottish Cod with chips. – So with none of the cod, it’s just the medium haddock – Okay. – I’ll get that. – Yeah, with chips? – Yeah. – Yeah, anything else? – No. – £12.25. – alright, got my fish and chips right here, between my legs. So I just booked a hostel up the road 13 minutes away. alright, here’s my bunkhouse hostel. alright, so I’ve lucked out again. The hostel is completely empty. It’s just me in here and I have it all to myself, which is quite lovely, actually. If you wonder why I go from like Airbnbs to hostels, basically I just try to do the cheapest thing I can. And so like for one night, a hostel is generally the most convenient thing. If I’m staying like for more than a few nights, then I’ll try to get an Airbnb. And the big benefit is that you can make your own food in them. And so I can go grocery shopping. I don’t have to go out for food or anything. Now I can make my own food in a hostel, but if I was staying like a couple of days, I just, I need a good quiet place to work. And if there’s people like kind of milling about, it doesn’t really work out. Which leaves hotels in the middle, which generally don’t have kitchens, which at face value might be cheaper than an Airbnb, but then after you calculate all like the food and groceries and stuff versus eating out every night, it’s quite a bit cheaper to do the Airbnb if you can get a good priced one. So, yeah, I was thinking of like people are like probably confused. Like I’m staying in these nice Airbnbs, which are actually cheap. And then he’s going to a hostel. Like why is he? Anyways, good ride today. I wasn’t exactly sure what was going to happen. The end became quite beautiful, actually. I think the sun popped out. That really helps. And then also just like when the light… like the sun is starting to set, I think they call it golden hour in the film industry. And that’s just like the most beautiful time of light, I guess. And so, yeah, it was quite nice. I did notice, I think my clutch is slipping again, climbing the hills. I didn’t try again, ‘cause I had my fish and chips between my legs. So I didn’t really want to do any accelerations, but yeah, I think it’s slipping again. It lasted longer than the first one, but I think this is going to be a bit of a trend. I think this bike is maybe, the clutch is maybe a little under gunned for how much stuff I’ve put on the bike, which is… ‘cause I don’t… like obviously I’ve been doing stuff with the clutch. I’ve been riding off road, but I haven’t been like majorly stuck. I haven’t been really working the clutch super hard. So I think it’s maybe a bit of a, maybe it might be a bit of a negative with the KLX 300 is the clutch. So yeah, I’m still going to get it on the ferry tomorrow. It’s like, if I’m not full throttle, it’s still holding. And I’ve got an Airbnb booked on the Hebrides, on the islands on the other side. And so I’m going to try order a clutch and have it sent over there and then install it. We’ll see, we’ll see. So there might be a second clutch install video. Hopefully there aren’t too many of those actually. But yeah, anyways, maybe we’ll find out tomorrow morning when I head towards the ferry or after the ferry, and we’ll see if that clutch is really slipping. I think it is actually. And also look up how long distance wise it has been. I think it’s been a little longer since the first clutch got replaced, but I don’t know. It’s too short, I would say though. But anyways, thanks so much for watching the video. If you enjoyed the video, I’d love for you to subscribe. It really helps the channel, it helps grow. And it definitely gives me a boost when I see that number go up. So, but anyways, yeah, thanks for watching and I’ll see you next time.
I’ve experienced these symptoms before… but are they really there?
