🗼Tokyo to Kasumigaura: So Close to the KOM! (2nd Fastest Time). 282km Solo Ride & a Tortoise Rescue

What an incredible day on the bike! This is the story of my fastest 180km ride yet, an epic solo journey from Tokyo to the beautiful Lake Kasumigaura.

I set off from the city at 3:45 AM under a bit of drizzle, which quickly turned into perfect, cloudy cycling weather for most of the day. Staying hydrated was the key, and it paid off big time. The ride around the lake was incredible, but the real challenge began right after I finished the lake when the sun decided to come out in full force! A post-effort convenience store ice cream never tasted so good. 🍦

To my absolute surprise, I checked the segment times and found out I’d clocked the 2nd fastest time ever recorded around the lake – just seconds behind the KOM! What cost me the top spot? Well, stopping to change a GoPro battery… and taking a moment to rescue a tortoise from certain death on the road.

Honestly? I’M HAPPY WITH THAT! A new personal best and a good deed. Best trade-off ever. 🐢❤️

これは、東京から美しい霞ヶ浦までの180kmを自己最速で走破した、壮大なソロライドの記録です。

午前3時45分、小雨が降る中を都内から出発。天気はすぐにサイクリングに最適な曇り空に変わり、日中のほとんどはその恩恵を受けられました。鍵となったのは十分な水分補給で、これが素晴らしい結果に繋がりました。

霞ヶ浦一周は信じられないほど楽しかったのですが、本当の試練は一周を終え、太陽が容赦なく照りつけ始めた時からでした。頑張った後のコンビニのアイスは、まさに格別でしたね🍦

そして、驚いたことに、セグメントのタイムを確認すると、なんと霞ヶ浦一周の歴代2位のタイムを記録していたのです！KOM（区間賞）とは、ほんの数秒差でした。

では、なぜトップを逃したのか？
それは、GoProのバッテリー交換と…道路の真ん中で轢かれそうになっていた亀を救助するために立ち止まったからです。

正直なところ、この結果にとても満足しています！
自己ベストを更新し、良いこともできた。史上最高のトレードオフです🐢❤️
