China’s Mongolia? Inside Its Emptiest Province 🇨🇳 I S3, EP5
We need about one hour and a half Lol what happened look what happened oh my gosh what the hell oh we kinda break it okay it says the maximum is only 5 kg in the last episode we heard from the motorbike shop owner that Wuzhong is the gourmet capital of Ningxia that day we planned to reach Yinchuan the capital city but eventually we stayed in Wuzhong the next day we went to the most famous restaurant called duyousu for authentic Wuzhong Zao Cha welcome please come in Wuzhong apparently is the only city in Ningxia that has this Brunch culture so i’m super excited to try that out Hi, we’d like to have this we got a whole table of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 different dishes and we paid a 106 CNY in total the morning tea in zhongwei was unexpectedly lavish meat pies, beef, roast duck even abalone but what amazed me the most was a goji Berry mango pudding i don’t think you can find this anywhere else in the world but here after this Zao Cha we entered Yinchuan the capital of Ningxia Yinchuan is the capital of Ningxia Hui autonomous region and Ningxia Hui autonomous region is perhaps China’s least known province internationally it’s also China’s only Hui autonomous region and Hui people is one of the 56 ethnic group in China they are about eleven millions of them and they are believed to be the descendants of the silk road immigrants and as early as Tang dynasty the Persian and Arab merchants came along the silk road they mixed with locals they get settled in chang’an so that’s their ancestor and also during yuan dynasty during the expansion of the Mongolian Empire a big Muslim community from central Asia also came to this area and settled down the Silk road once brought central Asian immigrants Islam and Buddhism along with grape seeds and wine making techniques with its dry climate and long hours of sunlight the Helan mountains produce some of the finest wines in China this region is even called the Bordeaux of China we didn’t drink though we had to drive as we headed towards inner Mongolia we passed by the Western Xia Imperial tombs a powerful Kingdom founded in the 11th century by Tangut people who once ruled parts of Northwestern China so we just stopped at this road we didn’t intend to go in and the tomb is just over there and Xixia Kingdom is a very small kingdom that was established in the 11th century after Tang dynasty but later due to the expansion of the Mongol empire this small kingdom was erased by the Mongol troops and ever since after that in yuan dynasty this place has been named as ningxia which means a peaceful xia to commemorate that small kingdom that once existed on this land after entering inner Mongolia we spotted some ancient ruins on the horizon so we pulled over to take a look now we officially have entered inner Mongolia where are you going we’re going to Xinjiang Xinjiang. Xinjiang Where did you come we’re going to Alxa We came from Xi’an I see, from Xi’an Yes You started from Xi’an And you? We’re from Yinchuan We are Yinchuan people, and we came here for fun So you’re returning? At night We’re just cruising around And then go back. I see have fun on today this stretch of the great wall is Ming Changcheng and as we entered inner Mongolia there is also Mongolian script we dropped our bike at the foot of the mountain and now we’re climbing up to see the great wall the great wall is China’s longest national defensive system and then renovated expanded over different dynasties today it’s spread over 15 different provinces and autonomous regions and its total length is over 21’000 km you can find great wall in many different regions for example in Beijing and the very western end locates in today’s Xinjiang near Korla that’s part of the wall and you can see it stretches over kilometers in that direction and there must be another fortress on this top this could be another fortress after coming down from the great wall we kept moving forward we grabbed a quick meal at a small roadside shop then followed a narrow path that led us into the Tengger desert right along the southern edge of the greater Gobi Desert there are lots of trucks with a lot of straws and you can also see a lot of people are actually working in a desert they are planting the straw grid to prevent desertification wow they’re planting the straw grid on almost every inch of the desert that’s a huge project combating desertification here is no easy task here is no easy task those grids of straw were laid down by hand bit by bit over time they turned the sandy land into fertile farmland after passing through a stretch of Oasis we reached the heart of Tengger desert sandstorms occasionally swept across the road yet every so often we were surprised to find lakes appearing along the way if you look at the satellite image you will see a lot of small lakes dotting within the desert i don’t know i have no idea how this was formed but when we reach here it actually looks like this a big lake some green pasture and some roaming camels and goats hello are there fish in the lake No, there isn’t But what are you looking for insect eggs Do you have herds here yes, we are herdning So you are a Mongolian? Yes Mongolian the river from the lake is salty and this lady was scooping up mud from the river rinsing it in a bathtub then squeezing something out of it i was completely absorbed watching her her ride was just as cool a desert atv interesting so she told me there is some small insect egg in the sink she’s harvesting them and then people come and buy it to feed the shrimp baobao look it’s coming it’s coming and they’re just standing next to us quietly eating the grass what a magnificent animal (he is checking our bike) i think he’s talking in Mongolian i couldn’t understand a word are you going to see a desert sunset? No, we’re going to a camping place Is there a camping place there? Is ther ea place to sleep But not with your bike Oh, yeah. hahaha We can only see it from the outside yes this is actually really nice so a few herd men live here and they also open up some small guest houses with Mongolian tent with some Mongolian yurts the sand is so fine apparently there are a few household Mongolian household living here herd their cattles it’s just so beautiful this is just so beautiful look after the sunset we still have another 80 kilometers to ride before we can reach the nearest town Alxa left banner we need about 1.5h what happened what happened oh my gosh what the f… what the hell oh we kinda broke it okay it says the maximum is only five kilo and i think this is too heavy wow too bad I hope nothing broke but i don’t think i think our equipment is fine then we have to find a way to fix this our final solution we put our box there and I ll sit behind Flo let’s go

We’re continuing our road trip through the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, beginning with the vibrant brunch culture of Wuzhong. From there, we make our way to Yinchuan before crossing into the vast, open landscapes of Inner Mongolia—one of China’s least populated provinces. Culturally, it shares deep roots with Mongolia; traditional customs are still alive here, and road signs often include Mongolian script—something you won’t even find in Mongolia today. Our journey takes us across the sweeping Tengger Desert, where we pause to visit a small nomadic village nestled among the dunes.

Watching from North America. Love your channel.
2:33, my oriental wife would love that cuisine!
You're very fortunate to travel through a part of the world that I can only dream to visit!
7:12, that's very interesting! I never knew that the Great Wall extended that far.
10:26, fishing in China's Mongolia.
11:20, the camel-like animals.
14:40, Dear, I think you both need to invest in something more reliable!
The Hui just essentially Han Chinese who have adopted Islam.
The sponsor is definitely kicking themselves now. LOL
如果你们要去丝绸之路,骑着这个偏三轮恐怕不行哦,换个真正的越野摩托吧。
I think you are losing the point of what made you interesting. What made you fascinating was your knowledge of China… your understanding and insight of Chinese culture. You were just a Chinese girl (confounding western expectations), easily travelling your country and opening it up to people who have never seen or even tried to understand it. I loved the camera forward view of what was unfolding before you… I liked the challenges you overcame with accommodation and transport.
These last two series is more about you and your husband… very nice I’m sure..l but am I really interested in watching you and your husband riding on your motorbike and sidecar? The camera should be pointing outward, not towards you (where is the interest?) … you have made great videos… you only need the people of China and you, please stick with what you do… you are very could at it!

"A week has passed since you created a new vlog why do you get so late in uploading a new episode?
Hi Yan&Flo..👋👋👋☺️😊🧿🧿
Beautiful. ❤ from Australia
Great adventure 😅
Never underestimate a dirt wall! I remember seeing the duns in Scotland and northern England, and though they're primitive by Xi-an standards, you have the advantage over invaders attempting an incursion, particularly if you have bows. They don't fit our image of walls, but all over the world they were rough and ready aids to repelling invaders.
That desert sunset is so beautiful. I love the orange sand dunes contrasted with the green grass by the water. Truly a magical place.
Романтика у вас, ребята!
