This spot has been serving EEL for 90 YEARS!! ❤️
We have just arrived in Muran City, Hokkaido. This is the first place we’re going to go for some food here. Uh the food of choice is unagi, which is a eel. I love it. It’s one of my favorite dishes. This is apparently one of the top rated places in the area. So yeah, I’m super excited to try it. Let’s see how we get on. Anyway, it looks very traditional. [Music] Right. [Applause] Casually taking off my pants in a restaurant. Cozy. All right, then. Let’s get comfortable and take a look at the the menu. We have unagi. Unagi and unagi. Lots of unagi. Japanese as you can see. It’s arrived. Look at the beautiful box that is presented in. It’s an orange golden lacquered container. And with it, you get some pickles, also some miso soup. Oh, look how juicy that is. Look at it. Just caramelized, glazed over. Smells amazing. Wow. It’s amazing. So smoky and glazed. So fluffy. I like that smokeoky flavor. Soft, fluffy, smokeoky with a hint of sweetness. Caramelized tar on the top. It’s traditional Japanese environment. Feel like I’ve been transported back. Let’s not forget the skimono, the pickles, and our sakata tab. Let’s have a go of the soup. So much dashi. You feel that immediately. That’s good. That’s real good. Good chunk of rice on there as well. Unagi has to be definitely one of my favorite seafood. Somebody coming over to try Japanese food, unagi would be one of the top foods I’d have to recommend. 90 years this door has been open. 90 years old of history in my mouth just then.
My all time favourite Japanese food? Grilled eel (unagi). This little spot in Muroran, Hokkaido has been perfecting it for over 90 years! Craftsmanship passed down through generations and eating in this traditional Japanese restaurant felt like stepping back in time. Cozy, quiet, and full of soul.
Afterwards, the chef came out to have a little chat, turns out, he and his son also ride bikes. Its aazing how much riding bike in Japan has opened up the country for me ❤️🏍️

Agreed, Unagi is unique and highly addictive.
Imagine the shock when I seen you come across my reels Bash! Gotta say your Japanese is really good and 10 years+ of practice is inspiring to see. Hope you’re keeping well bro, it’s a dream of mine to fly out to Japan so maybe when I come we can have a sit down, some sake and a catch up! Ps I’m starting to get my bike licence end of this month, hopefully I don’t crash and die before end of the year lol 😂😂
