🥳
Just finished visiting Temple 70, Motoyama-ji. Now heading to today’s final two—Temples 68 and 69. But I’m really hungry right now and there’s no convenience store in sight—nothing to eat either. This area has a lot of traffic too. Whoa—this stretch of greenery is stunning. 4.6 kilometers remaining. There’s definitely enough time to visit all the temples today. The only question is whether I can make it up to the viewpoint before returning the bike. The return deadline is 4:30 p.m. today. To reach the lookout, I’ll have to cycle uphill again. I’ll check how I feel later before deciding. I thought there’d be more bus pass stops around here. Arai-no-Tanibashi Bridge—everything around here is newly built. These roads were all resurfaced. Really smooth to ride. Earlier, the sidewalk was rough and uneven—my butt was getting wrecked. If I come again, and don’t plan to visit as many temples— I saw a notice board at Motoyama-ji mentioning lots of local attractions around here. I passed one called “The Dragon of Fudō”—but it’s a 15 km detour. There’s a FamilyMart—but I can’t cross the road to reach it. I gave in—I rode across to check what food they had. Just had three pieces of fried chicken and cold noodles from FamilyMart. But eating inside isn’t allowed. So I had to eat outside, using the bicycle basket as a makeshift table. Anyway, back on the road now. Finally some sun—been riding all day. Funny thing—these rivers always have turtles climbing out. I’ve seen them a bunch today. Since 9 a.m. I’ve been riding nonstop. Turns out I could’ve just eaten an energy bar for lunch. Whoa—no ramp to get onto the sidewalk here. Just slammed on full power and shot up. Tree branches on the left kept smacking my legs. Couldn’t cross—had to ride along the roadway the whole way. Just passed a really complex intersection. Almost there! I think I still have time to head up to the coin sand sculpture viewpoint. I was planning to go up to that Zenigata Sand Sculpture viewing deck. But the road at the base was even steeper than Unpenji’s climb! With only an hour left—and still needing to return the bike—it wasn’t worth the risk. The battery was almost dead too. Guess I’ll save it for next time. Marugame Station. I see tomorrow’s rental shop—it’s the Marugame City-run bicycle parking lot. They told me this room is designated for smoking. From here I can see the harbor factories—and further out are the little islands of the Seto Inland Sea.
