Nakasendo Cycling Route – Biwako to Kyoto
While not exactly the Nakasendo Trail, the section from Hikone to Kyoto is a little nicer along the shoreline of Lake Biwako. Many historic points of Tokaido and Nakasendo converge close to Kyoto and are lost in the urban sprawl. Purists may wish to take the original postal road – but the lake side paths are especially convenient and a safer way to cycle.
