Days 105-106. 74km (88232kms 8yrs)
Over three trips back and forth I separately forgot my GoPro charger and battery, helmet & GoPro, and finally my wallet at the hostel. Luckily this is Tunisia so my things were never really at risk. But I was worried about my head. In all the rush to the border I hadn’t made any further plan; where would I go now? I’d hoped for a day to decompress, but the auberge was booked up tonight. Over coffee I tried to decided in which direction to go, how long I would stay in the country and therefor how much money I should change.. did I need a SIM card?..
In the end I set off towards Beja with two weeks of cash changed, no SIM. The first 20kms I retraced my steps east until the road turned south. A strong wind from the north west blew me up into the hills. Stops for cold Tunisian soft drinks and wraps brought back fond memories of my time here last year.
In Beja I booked two nights at the hostel so was able to organise myself and explore this lovely untouristed ‘hidden gem’ of a village. Whitewashed and painted bright blue, but faded and decaying somewhat, the old cobbled streets are utterly charming. People greeted me in the streets more confidently than in Algeria. But the generosity and welcome remain; In the market when I picked up some local cheese the man refused payment. By following the plastic beer wrapper garbage on the floor I found the secret side entrance to the supermarket where they sold every kind of alcohol. I picked up a couple of cold cans to drink in my room, and toast a return to lovely, easy, friendly Tunisia.

Lucky doggy. I was going to suggest a relaxing beach holiday but it's probably too warm at this time of year.

Hello, yes, Tunisia blocks any imported phone after one month however, you can register it forever, on Sajalni with your passport and a local SIM card. You can import two each time you enter the country.
