87km Mountain Off-Road Heaven in Japan 🇯🇵 | Tsurugi Super Forest Road 87km | の絶景グラベル!剣山スーパー林道を冒険しよう!

The Kenzan Super Forest Road was completed in 1985 after 14 years of construction. This road provides access to the mountains for forestry workers and tourists. With a total length of 87.7 km, The Kenzan Super Forest Road is Japan’s longest forest road. The winding road offers great views from mountain tops and ridges. Most of it is gravel, making it an off-road paradise for motorbikes, four-wheelers, and hikers. The “Yama no ie” mountain lodge is located at the highest point of the forest road at 1500 meter elevation. From here, you can access the trailheads to Mount Tsurugi and Mount Jirogyu. Please visit! Back when we were young, we tried to drive here in low-clearance cars and couldn’t make it. But with a Jimny, I came back for revenge, and this time, I could go places normal cars can’t. I was moved by the scenery, especially the autumn colors. The Super Forest Road shows so many beautiful scenes that leave an impression. The Kenzan Super Forest Road is right in front of you, with miles of unpaved roads. It’s hard to believe this unpaved path stretches on for tens of kilometers and then suddenly you find a restaurant. For off-road bikers, this place is truly world number 1. It’s an off-road paradise. However, there are a few things visitors should know. The full length is 87.7 km, but landslides often block sections. In recent years, it hasn’t been fully open at once. I hope they can maintain it to keep it continuously open as Japan’s longest forest road. I personally find it relaxing that there’s no cell service here. But if an accident happens and you can’t call, that could be inconvenient. I wish there were better cell service. And more guardrails and safety measures in dangerous spots. To the west is Oku no Yama Lodge; to the east is the Fagus Forest with dining and lodging. These wonderful places are some of the reasons the road is so popular. But riders, please always check the road conditions. You can get updates on rindonavi.com. Creating a road in such rugged terrain isn’t easy. But that’s also why The Kenzan Super forest road is such a great destination for off road bikers and hikers. If you want a unique experience, this road is highly recommended. Even 50cc scooters can manage if you go slow with a bit of effort. I hope more people off road bikers will come explore these trails. It would be great if it were fully open start to finish and people from all over can enjoy it safely. Many people from outside the area already visit, and we’d love to welcome more. Though it’s hard to reach by car, but we’ll be waiting here with delicious food for everyone when you return tired from you climb. What do you think every one? Please come visit us! Is that good? Ok? So, how was the Super Forest Road? Fun, but a bit tiring.
