Bryan and Sebastien’s Journal from Fukuoka to Tokyo by Bike, Day 26 – Somewhere in the City of Kyoto Our day began with a calm and sunny awakening around the lake where we had camped. We then set off to tackle the few remaining hills before arriving at the former imperial capital: Kyoto. On the way, we stopped to enjoy a bowl of ramen with unfamiliar flavors. A new taste discovery, as Japan knows so well how to offer us. Further on, a small temple stood discreetly, guarded by several bright red tori. We took the time to stop there, breathe in its silence, and walk slowly between its ancient stones. At the end of the day, we arrived at HIKO’s, our Warmshowers host. He prepared homemade okonomiyaki for us, a real feast. And for the first time, we tasted bamboo shoots, cooked with care. Tomorrow, we will leave to visit the city of Osaka.
Quelque part dans la ville de Kyoto
Notre journée a débuté par un réveil calme et ensoleillé autour du lac où nous avions campé.
Nous sommes ensuite partis affronter les quelques collines restantes avant d’arriver sur l’ancienne capitale impériale : Kyoto.
Sur le chemin, nous nous sommes arrêtés pour déguster un bol de ramen aux saveurs inconnues. Une nouvelle découverte gustative, comme le Japon sait si bien nous en offrir.
Plus loin, un petit temple se dressait discrètement, gardé par plusieurs tori rouge éclatants. Nous avons pris le temps de nous y arrêter, de respirer son silence et de marcher lentement entre ses pierres anciennes.
En fin de journée, nous sommes arrivés chez HIKO notre hôte Warmshowers. Il nous a préparé des okonomiyaki maison, un vrai festin. Et pour la première fois, nous avons goûté au pousse de bambou, cuisiné avec soin.
Demain, nous partirons visiter la ville d’Osaka.
