The weather was perfect on the first day, and I soaked in the beauty of the Seto Inland Sea Crossed a few bridges and stayed overnight on Ikuchijima Day two started with heavy rain But even in the rain, the Seto Inland Sea was stunning The weather’s cleared up Now I’m heading back to Ikuchijima, with a few stops along the way First, I’m going to visit the breakfast spot I originally planned to go to The whirlpools are amazing! Seems like you can spot whirlpools just about anywhere around here Gonna stop and watch them for a bit *I really love whirlpools, lol* We’ve arrived! This is “Konanowa”, a bagel shop using organic homemade yeast. It’s a cozy spot renovated from a 70-year-old traditional house with a relaxing view of the Seto Inland Sea. The terrace seats are open today, so I’m going to relax out there Wow, it’s so nice! It’s picnic-style and really cute Iyo citrus peel & cream cheese: 480 yen, Charcoal caramel nut: 460 yen, Hot coffee: 300 yen You might wonder, “Why eat bagels on the Shimanami Kaido?” But I LOVE bagels! *My viewers probably already know this, lol* Itadakimasu (Let’s dig in!) When I found this place, I instantly decided—“I have to go!” So here I am, haha OMG, this is insanely good! Apparently this is their most popular item Delicious!! So glad I came here They’re only open on Wednesdays and Saturdays, so I feel like it was fate I got to come today Super chewy and absolutely delicious bagels! You can really smell the wheat aroma—so good. Ended up staying a bit longer than planned Oh right, I want to go souvenir shopping! There are a few roadside stations along the Shimanami Kaido, but for now, I’ll head to the nearest one on Hakata Island. I wonder if they sell some kind of local craft beer from the Shimanami area? Whoa, there are so many Bari-san mascots here! (The official character of Imabari City) So this is the famous Hakata salt. I’ll grab some seaweed for my mom and sister for now. Looks so good… I looked it up, and it turns out this is a sake from a tiny village in Kochi famous for yuzu. Buying it. Oh, this one! This is the beer I was planning to buy in Imabari—if it hadn’t rained all morning and ruined my schedule… Even the Shimanami Ale is sold out!! About that Shimanami Ale… If they don’t have it there, it’s gone. Ah, I see. Thank you! Oh well. I’ll just buy souvenirs for my niece and nephew and call it. Still bitter about that beer, though. Maybe I’ll stop by another roadside station. I really want some coffee. It’s getting late—cafes and roadside stations might be closing soon. For now, I’ll head to Ōmishima. There are way too many places I want to visit along the Shimanami Kaido—I need more time! I’ll definitely come back again. This is actually a hotel, but it has a café that’s open to the public too. *I’m rushing—almost closing time!* One hot Americano, please. Since it’s closing time, looks like I’ve got the place to myself. This place is seriously trendy! What a view—Ikuchijima is right there. I swear, next time I’m going to take it slow and really relax. Alright, time to grab some beer and head back. Arrived at the roadside station on Ōmishima. *Only 5 minutes by bike from the café.* Tatara Bridge Found the “Bell of Happiness.” I think I’m probably happy now. Got it! (It’s not the beer from Hakata, but I scored “Harehime” from Imabari Machinaka Brewery!) Alrighty, heading back to the hotel. I was worried how the day would go with that morning downpour, but I’m so glad I got to wander around in the sunny afternoon. Plans went off track, but even a rainy Shimanami Kaido was fun—totally satisfied. And just like that, I’m back on Ikuchijima. I’m home! I was supposed to visit Lemon Valley on Ikuchijima early this morning… But I’ll stop by for a quick peek before heading to my inn. There’s a gacha machine here. Let’s give it a spin. Let’s open it. It’s a lemon with noodles popping out of it. Totally satisfied. I was supposed to be back on Ikuchijima by 3 PM and go to that famous gelato shop and croquette place… But now it’s already sunset. It’s a shame, even if it couldn’t be helped. Well, I’ll just have to come back again! I’m back. I’m completely exhausted, lol Back in my room. Time to put the booze I bought in the fridge. Shiomachi shopping street Ta-dah! Tonight’s dinner is lemon ramen. I’m the only Japanese person in here, but I’m slurping my noodles the good ol’ local way. It’s a weird combo, but I love lemon so… honestly, I kinda like it! (lol) A lot happened today, but it was a blast. Tomorrow’s the last day. Good night. Day 3 Good morning, everyone! The final morning has arrived. Thank you for everything. Checking out. Huh? Did I pass it? I can’t find the entrance for mopeds… Navigating the Shimanami Kaido is tricky sometimes… U-turn! Ohhh, I see. This way? *Today’s internal monologue is going strong, as usual.* From here, I get caught in rush hour traffic. Crossing from Ikuchijima to Innoshima. The number of bikes is increasing… The cherry blossoms are in full bloom. Now I’m headed from Innoshima to Mukaishima. Scary… Why is everyone riding so aggressively? At this point, I’m kind of feeling down. Alright—last bridge! Made it to the Innoshima Bridge! Wait, what? I’m out of 50 yen coins?! Looks like I overpaid somewhere… time to toss in some cash (lol) This is terrifying… Seriously scary, scary, scary, scary. I’m totally mentally done. Someone just overtook me. Whatever happens, happens. (lol) I really don’t recommend heading toward Onomichi during rush hour if you’re a beginner. Somehow survived the hellish rush hour. I’m kinda wiped out. (lol) Time for a break. I’m flying home from Hiroshima Airport today, and I booked a shared taxi. Just got the pickup time by email. Since I’ve got some extra time… time for a selfie! (lol) Whoa! A huge ship’s coming! I want to get a photo with the ship! I’m worried about where I parked the bike. Of course I messed it up. Alright, let’s take the ferry over to Onomichi. Arrived at the ferry terminal. Whoa, this already feels nostalgic. This is my goodbye to the Shimanami Kaido… I feel a little sad. Coming back via ferry kind of makes me feel like a pro traveler. The ride back feels a little sentimental. After pushing through rush hour, I finally made it to Onomichi. I made it to the finish line! Let’s snap a souvenir photo. (lol) I finished riding the whole Shimanami Kaido!! Headed to a popular bakery in Onomichi for breakfast. I love that it opens early in the morning. Only 45 minutes left until I have to return the bike. The trip’s almost over… It’s time to return the bike. Thank you! I’ll be back for sure. Now heading to Hiroshima Airport via shared taxi. The bullet train’s faster, but since I’ve got airline miles, flying is cheaper. Ended up having the whole shared taxi to myself!! Alright, let’s go. Thank you! This really saved me today. Yeah, getting all the way to the airport takes quite a while. I spent so much time wondering how I’d get to Hiroshima Airport. Did you look it up online or something? Yep! Right up to the last minute, I was debating whether to go by train… (lol) There are so many transfers, right? Exactly! This area has such a laid-back vibe, don’t you think? That kind of atmosphere is really nice. So relaxing. Oh, but in the morning—those mopeds crossing the bridge? They were going crazy fast! (lol) Yeah, there’s really nothing you can do about that! It was super scary! (lol) They zoom like crazy in the morning. It takes about an hour to get from Onomichi to the airport. The Debe Liner was such a lifesaver (4,000 yen). Alright, heading back to Tokyo now. Hiroshima Airport There’s beer inside. Haneda Airport I’m home!

しまなみエールと初日は雨だったけど、はれひめゲット出来て良かった🙆
最初のお店で売り切れてた事が、とっても気がかりでした😂

I'm glad you got better weather for the rest of the second day ^^ This was a beautiful trip, and very enjoyable to watch, thanks again for sharing it with us ! Too bad you didn't find the beer you were looking for, I hope the other 2 beers were good ^^
Lovely wee trip..
Beautiful area…and good choice of shops..as you explored the region on the Honda

How many bikes do you have?
Looked like a fun ride. How’d you get a beer on the plane ?😂🍻
Hiroshima Airport is so hard to get to! And it's tiny. I don't understand why they put it so far away.
